If their complaining that you don't pay enough, they need to find another job.
That kind of pay and home time is a dream job for a lot of drivers. -
That’s like a woman with an abusive husband, drawing his bath, cooking his favorite meal, having his slippers and housecoat out...
...all so he won’t hit her in the eye.
He was making a good wage and no handholding. He should have been content. But he’s not. He doesn’t appreciate anything you do. Instead, belittles and degrades you. And you just rewarded him.
THAT was a mistake.longbedGTs and Jasonar15 Thank this. -
There are too many variables to say for sure that it’s a fair wage.
What type of freight do you haul? How is he paid? Hourly, per mile, percentage of load? Hours worked? Does he have a set schedule, or on-call?
I mean, it sounds like a very fair wage (certainly not any too high, though) and the hometime would definitely be worth something to me, but again, enough variables that I don’t think anyone can say the driver is a whiner simply based upon what information you’ve given. -

And before you say 27% is low or whatever, the freight is from direct customer and amount is on the bol. It’s easy for some carriers say oh you get 32% and they cut your throat.
-
And if the load has a fuel surcharge included in bill, I don’t take that before drivers cut.
