First, to those who thought I was complaining, Im not. I was just asking a question. I've been driving CDL B for years and never had to pay for any fees. Being new to this side of truck driving, I was just trying to find out if this was the norm.
-
First...
The prepass that gets you past many (not all) scales is not at all the same as the pass that works on certain toll roads.
EZ Pass, I-pass, etc, are good only on specific toll roads. If you - for instance - have the EZ Pass for the toll road in Colorado, it will NOT work on the toll road East of Chicago. If you travel a number of toll roads, you'd need a set of electronic passes.
That being said - I don't think any of them cost anything - so, just get 'em, use 'em, and forward the monthly bill to the company.
Buster - understood. In my limited experience, it is NOT the norm. -
Wow. Hmmmm My Co. pays me extra money each week and gave me 200 up front for expenses when I came to work for them. They give 12.50 per week cell phone allowance and that helps!. I didn't have to give them a dime.

I saw the $1 taken out of my pay every week on my pay stub, or multiple pay stubs when I got home to see what came for me in the mail while I was away. But I knew it was Roehl's policy and you can opt out of it, it's wasn't mandatory that you be in the "program". Everyone just paid their $1 to save a lot of hassle and such.
Again, it wasn't mandatory, Roehl did not MAKE you pay the $1. It was your option. But I spent a lot of my time there going up and down I-294 in my Roehl slow *** truck, and glad I didn't have to go through every toll gate and scale house slowing me down even more.
Take that $52 off on your taxes for that year, get it all back. Or do like others said here and go through the trouble of getting your own, sending them the bill, getting reimbursed, extra paperwork, etc. etc. etc. $1 was not something that I thought; "OMG, I better not pick Roehl as my training company"! Ya know? It was definately not high on my list of trucker gripes about them. -
I am sure it is worth the buck, but still, ok 3 thousand drivers , 3 grand a week, $150,000.00 a year, not bad. I guess every driver waste a gallon of fuel a week, might as well deduct 3 bucks a week for that too. Now were talking!!!!!!!!!!!
Pay the buck and good luck. -

I AM..........
I am also real petty that they pay for scale tickets, fuel, the truck and truck repairs, also all required safety equipment.
If I wanted to buy my job... I'd expect the profit after expenses to be mine... ez pass would be one of those expenses. -
It is a petty fee, however most companies do not charge anything for these items. Especially to company drivers. I've even seen some companies that dont charge to the owner ops. As for load locks and king pin locks that is pretty standard.
