..I agree with Boland, what company would require their employees to pay half of the heating & A/C bills as a condition of employment; how many would work for a company that did? The idle issue is one that has to be resolved because of the expense it adds to fuel costs, the pollution issue, & the additional hrs it adds to engine time.. Just another example of the trucking industry trying to save a $ anyway they can at the drivers expense; drivers already have to make sacrifices that the bottom feeder companies will take advantage of & use to improve their bottom line.

These trucks do idle but it has to be a certain temp outside for them to do so... Below 35 degrees or above 70...that is a reasonable temp..As far as idle goes, I do think it's fair that Celadon pays half of the cost..If you were to go to a hotel, you would have a/c and heat, also you would have tv and internet..Why should Celadon foot the whole bill when it is your choice to hook up or not...You say it would cost a driver $300.00 a month for idleaire and this would be true if the driver hooked up to it everyday..Who has time to hook up to it everyday? NOBODY DOES...It's there as a convience for the driver and a fuel saver for the company.
Now as far as Celadon being a "dirtbag, meatgrinder outfit", you would never know due to the fact that you've never worked here...Also I would appreciate it if you would keep your name calling out of my thread..I respect your opinion and thank you for your input but I don't like the name calling...Take that part of your comments somewhere else please. Thanks

Celadon still gets a "discount" at idleaire to which we don't pay the full $2.40 an hour...I have hooked up to idleaire several times and be hooked up for 10 to 12 hrs or so and it only cost me like $7 or $8 out of pocket..

YOU KNOW WHAT TIMTRUCK, I HAVE ABOUT HAD IT WITH YOUR B.S:biggrin_25516:.:biggrin_25510:...WE HAVE NOT CANCELLED ANY ORDER WITH THE BRICKYARD FOR THE NEW 09 PRO STARS, WE ARE STILL RECIEVING THEM EVERY 2 TO 3 WEEKS..AS FAR AS THE VOLVO'S GO, THOSE TRUCKS ARE FOR TEAMS AND ALSO FOR SALE, NOT DRIVEN BY COMPANY DRIVERS. WE DON'T USE ANY OF THE OLD BURLINGTON TRUCKS AS OVER THE RD TRUCKS.AND MOST OF THE FREIGHTLINERS ARE ALSO FOR SALE.WE DO HAVE SOME FREIGHTLINERS ON THE RD STILL, I NEVER SAID WE DIDN'T. I SAID THEY ARE ON THE LIST TO BE TRADED IN SOON..JOLLIFF TRAILERS ARE USED FOR STORAGE NOT TRANSPORT..THEN YOU SAY THAT WE ARE ONLY TRYING OUT THE PRO-STARS---WHAT A FOOL YOU ARE---IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED BY NOW, 65% OF OUR FLEET CONSISTS OF PRO-STARS...THE REST OF THE FLEET IS STILL WAITING TO BE TRANSFERED INTO PRO-STARS..WHAT WE DID "TRY OUT" WAS THR FREIGHTLINER CASCADIA...THOSE WERE PIECES OF JUNK....THAT'S WHY WE ARE GOING TO ALL PRO-STARS..GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT..THE MAINT. ON FREIGHTLINERS (THE NEW ONES) IS JUST AS EXPENSIVE AS THE PRO-STAR..THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS FREIGHTLINERS BREAK DOWN MORE OFTEN....AND YES I HAVE SEEN THIS WITH MY OWN EYES...AS FAR AS YOU GETTING YOUR HOGWASH INFORMATION FROM THE MECHANICS AT CELADON, I'D REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS FEEDING YOU THIS BULL...JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION ALSO TIMTRUCK, THE LAST 3 OUTFITS WE BOUGHT, WE DIDN'T TAKE ANY OF THEIR EQUIPMENT, JUST THEIR CUSTOMERS:yes2557:...HAVE A NICE DAY..:biggrin_25522:

guess your right...u don't get it..neither does alot of other people obviously...celadon comes out of pocket just as much as the driver does..idleaire provides comfortability for the driver and also saves money on diesel...yes you are right, but why should celadon provide you with tv and internet via idleaire? That would mean they are footing your bill right? Take a step back and look at the big picture..all you drivers want is for someone to always foot your bill because you work for them..guess what? Wrong answer..time to pony up and take some responsibility of your own..

like i said before, the comfortability of idleaire goes both ways..it's convienent for the driver and save money for the company but it should be split down the middle due to the fact that company should not have to provide the driver with the additional products idleaire has to offer for the driver. The big picture guys, look at the big picture..

Again,I didn't see how I insulted anyone.I didn't know massive, faceless corporations had such delicate feelings.

Anyways,I'm delighted your enjoying working for an outfit like CELADON.That's what matters.

We all have different expectations from a company.I just don't expect to pay to sleep in a company truck.Apparently, they pay very well there, and those type of out of pocket expenses don't concern you. They would really bother me.

    Different strokes I guess.

    Like I said Bunny,good luck.

You say "massive, faceless corporations" when the pure fact of the matter is the corporation is not faceless...We the drivers are the face of the company....We represent the company..And just because I drive a company truck doesn't mean I need for them to foot the bill for my comfortability...It takes a company working as a team to make it through hard times...Maybe if alot of drivers thought the way I do, some of these small companies wouldn't have gone under when the hard times hit...
