I don't see this ELD getting much bigger than this. Once they [analysts and such] see the ripple effects, increased safety issues, and etc; they'll probably just leave it like it is.

Or we will see a quickly revolving door of more foolishness; replacing common sense with technology that is

Who knows how long it's for. For now yes you are exempt. For now the age exemption has no time limit. That could change or may never change.

In my mind it will not ever change. It will ne like very other date based regulation like abs and such. DOT will just wait until all the old trucks die a natural death.
As it is, I'd be surprised if there is more than 1% of the trucks on the road older than 2000. And every year than number will shrink by a little bit....

Well what if that's needs ELD. I'd say time to raise hell. By doing nothing. Unless pay goes way up.

ELD or paper it doesn't matter.HOS and interpretation of it is the problem. Who ever came up with that #### obviously never drove a truck OTR. It's not office or factory job and there is way too many variables to try to account all of them.I can bet dollars against peanuts that this HOS #### rules already got some people killed and maimed.Just last night I was pushing it to the limits (I could barely keep my eyes open!!!) but I was perfectly legal to drive.Maybe (it's not a question) it would have been better if I was allowed to take a 4 or 5 hours nap and then continue instead of being forced to either 2h (not enough!) or 8 h (too much and messes up the plan).#### those HOS!
