There will be a rookie 20 year old NASCAR driver racing the #24 for Hendrick Motorsports next year, arguably the greatest organization in NASCAR. This kid didn't start driving until he was 15 years old......in a simulator! Many professional racers claim the simulation can be very real. Is call of duty realistic of combat? Don't know, never played the game. Is trucking simulator similar to real trucking? Don't know but I would say it could be and that's why the question was asked.

Yep. It was a 4.5 million dollar gimbal rigged 360 degree, photo realistic simulator...not a bloody X-Box 1S or PlayStation 4. By your "logic" an 8 year old, who's a proficient shot with a BB gun would be Davey Freakin' Crockett with a 155mm howitzer.

My head is starting to hurt from all the silliness that's showing up here lately.

Nascar doesn't have super steep inclines with traffic lights half way up the hill pulling 80k pounds. Imagine getting caught at that light half way up trying to get the wheels turning without rolling back and hitting cars and also stalling a million times and then eventually breaking a ujoint because you panicked and dumped the clutch at 2100 rpms. How about navigating a trailer in real traffic or shifting a real non synchronized trans. Truck driving is not on a closed course. No truck simulator could prepare you for real world. so comparing nascar simulator to truck simulator isn't realistic. Anyone can shift gears in a race car on a flat road. Can it win you races, probably not. As for call of duty training you for combat? Dude, I wouldn't even go there and not sure why that was even brought up. No bad blood man. just sayin

I own it and ETS2. Played a lot of ETS2, but not much of ATS.

It's absolutely nothing like real life, but that's okay, it's still incredibly relaxing to play.

It's good for newbies to learn about backing though, especially if you have a wheel setup. They get you to put trailers in some really weird spots that trucks normally wouldn't be setting up to back for.

Some cdl schools and trucking companies use simulators. They're cheaper than actually driving on the roads. Airline pilots and military pilots are trained on simulators. Railroad train engineers also have simulator training in the beginning.
After the simulator training, then they go to real world driving or flying.

I drove a truck simulator once but the instructor kept getting mad at me for throwing my pissjugs on the floor.

I remember sitting down to play with the Schneider simulator a while back, it sorta reminded me graphically of the old "Cruisin' USA" you saw in the 90's arcade scene.
