You know how crappy the music sounds when you hear it on your speaker? When you transmit your song it sounds just as bad.

Sometimes I go off on another channel at night w another driver and next thing I know ive got 100 miles behind me

I dont have a CB and dont want one either. The few times I had one on in the trainer's trucks there was nothing but garbage being broadcast. I've never been to a shipper or receiver that required drivers to have a CB, but I don't doubt they exist. Most just ask for your cell number so they can call when paperwork is ready or to give you a dock door.

I'm not a big pro-cb driver. I agree that most of what I hear, either pisses me off or I find totally uninteresting. That said, I can't imagine trucking without having a decent working radio. When you need it, you need it. Every now and then you'll hear something worthwhile or noteworthy.

You can turn it off. Keep it turned off. Turn it on at critical times. It's not like you have to endure garbage all day. Besides there's very little back and forth anymore to make it an ongoing issue except in a handful of places.

Hardly anyone even talks on them anymore. However, when there’s something wrong, there’s always multiple people blowing up the waves. I run with the volume way down. If I hear a bunch of activity on the radio, I turn it up to see what’s going on. The vast majority of the time nowadays, it’s some driver warning about something wrong.

Heard a commotion on the radio a couple weeks ago. Turned up the volume. Some driver going the opposite direction is yelling at me about a fatal truck crash ahead and the road blocked. Gave me the mile marker and the last exit numbers avoid it. Road was shut down. I was oversized. I pulled over and called the state, told them the deal and had my route amended. Saved me lots of time.

A CB is good if someone needs to tell you your trailer is on fire.

If there’s not a platform for it on the dash then it’s probably in the driver side sunglasses holder. It just pops off and should have an antenna wire and power connections in it.
