I discovered the same thing in my 20s, and decided to get creative with my sleep venues. Grocery stores, rest areas, even ramps... whatever it took to stay out of truck stop parking lots.

To answer Polecrucher: Yes, I do were clip-on sun shades, I prefer the polarized kind. But I was a welder for almost 10 years before taking up truck driving. Although I always used the appropriate shade number, (10,11,12), I now wonder if that is a factor. My optometrist didn't think so, but modern welding was invented 100 years ago. It produces infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light.
How much do we know about long term exposure?91B20H8 and SingingWolf Thank this. -
You’d think people would be smart enough to not point them in the air. I guess not...FullMetalJacket, 91B20H8, SingingWolf and 1 other person Thank this. -
Last Friday put the truck in the shop for it's PM with a dozen write ups - def, coolant, abs/ongaurd, air leak, window motors, clutch leak, alignment, vibration, etc. Before hand I asked my dbl if we were sure we wanted to drop that kind of money into it or just pull it from the fleet and let some "entrepreneur " (read sucker, or perhaps idjiot if from the south). Sunday late afternoon I get the truck back with most things seemingly taken care off.
Monday morning I get a message saying my truck just jumped to the top og the list for trade trucks.
Got routed home to get all but the essentials out so I can dump the truck in Gary and rental home where a new truck will be waiting.
I am currently 30 miles from home, trailer uncoupled, and the gosh darn thing won't start. Starter is covered in fresh oil (and is in a really bad location to tey and work on, thanks Freightliner). To make matters worse is last month I pulled my socket set put of the truck to do some projects at home so I can't even disconect the battery to try a hard reset on the ecm. The nuts are on there too tight for the adjustable crescent and I don't want to risk stripping the suckers.
Thinking of just taking the rest of the week off. I've already hit my income goal for the year, so why the heck not?SingingWolf, 91B20H8, rickybobby and 3 others Thank this. -
And yes, if you wanted to have the slave mentality that you aren't getting paid unless the wheels are rolling, then turning a wrench isn't the worst thing in the world. My mentality is that I should be paid hourly while I am dealing with their #### equipment. I'm allergic to unpaid work.48Packard, Home_on_wheels, 91B20H8 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Anyone heard about the Class action against SNI?
I was asked by a driver if I was going to be part of it. He showed me a letter from an attorney office about eligibility.
I've not been contacted has anyone else?SingingWolf Thanks this.
