I now only perform the simplest of tasks on trailers such as lights. I sent the head of maintainence an email a few years ago inventorying my time spent making repairs and included an “invoice”. Naturally I never heard anything, but they in turn know where I stand.

I actually called the recruiting team and asked about leasing on. That was until I was told that they do not allow contractors to see the actual rate confirmation sheet for the loads. Sorry, not getting ripped off like that!

Well, I’m staying one more year. In the interest of simplicity, I’ll list the reasons.
    1. I make what I need to make without working all that hard. I never hit my 70. I make about what a company driver makes with a helluva lot more time off.
    2. I have zero interest in ownership.
    3. I tired long ago of dealing with load planners that kept me running OH and PA.
    4. I go see family on the left coast when I want. Dad just had major surgery, and I was there. Mom and dad are almost 80 and 79.
    5. I can work on transitioning out of this once great profession and into my new line of business utilizing the freedom of scheduling I have.
    6. My wife has a good job and good insurance.
    7. I get an annual windfall in December stemming from family income-producing property in Los Angeles.

I am certainly in the minority, but this fits my life right now. I have no desire to work harder for more income. The degree of risk in leasing at SNI is appropriate for my goals. If I planned to retire as a trucker, I’d buy my own truck and trailer, get my own authority and go. But after hoping that this year would be it, I find one more year necessary and sufficient to achieve my goals.

So...to those who disparage leasing, you certainly have valid points. I would never lease for a flat rate of a buck a mile nor would I allow myself to be under the thumb of a dispatcher. That’s why I’m here and not elsewhere. But for me, at this time, with my set of circumstances, I have what I need.

    Thank goodness.

It read as if it's about shorted miles.

Assume then that means paying hhg and not hub or best route miles?

well if that is the case , them boys on the jcp account stand to make some bank then.

I estimated 200 miles a week on that account.

    TennMan and SingingWolf Thank this.

I'm not sure, I haven't heard anything other than the driver yesterday who was leaving the fuel island as I was pulling in and he asked if I had received a letter. He then showed it to me as I was fueling, said his came Tuesday and he had just left the house Wednesday.

It looked legit, 2 pages and all but I'm clueless as of noe.

What about the bulk side? I was leased onto them in 2014.
