You complain about, that what happens when you have a real bill to pay?
Everybody wants to be an "owner operator" until it's time to actually pay the bills.

JB made a deal with pilot so that's where I get my best fuel price...except big cabin their fuel price is pretty good...plus pilot has best coffee...unless it's a road ranger. Road ranger is weird.
There are so few of the great old stops from the past but we've lamented that before.
It's almost New Year. I get sentimental New year's eve. I sing auld Lang syne and cry a little..even sober..and then kick the Old year to the curb and cheer for all the possibilities of the next.

You are such a curmudgeon. You jump on a little statement like a chicken on a June bug. Pm price has doubled since the last time I paid for one. Yeah it's a lot especially when it was poor service poorly done. It doesn't disqualify me as a successful operator to point that out.
Go eat some chocolate and sweeten up.

Still fuming about all the naysayers that love to chime in with their put downs. This is not a contest. You don't get a prize for collecting coup.
When I started this thread it was with the intent of sharing my experience as it is: succeed or fail. Now if I am nervous about sharing the negative stuff because I'm going to get ridiculed, then all you'll get is sunshine and puppies and no one will benefit from the narrative.
I am not going to allow myself to be bullied into hiding.

Sorry snowflake, it's not about being bullied, it is about the reality of the situation. Owning a truck is about making all the decisions and accepting all the responsibility. You preach "freedom" but you get bent out of shape over the responsibility that comes with it. When someone points it out, you complain about people just being mean.
You and everyone else who has voulentarily put themselves in this situation get bent out of shape when reality hits. Call me whatever name you want if it makes you feel better about your choice. But don't expect sympathy for poor choices when you have been warned repeatedly.

Playing the victim card and Erik is being mean to me doesn't float in the real world.

Hmmmm... I took her comments on the pm as just that...comments. Poorly done service at a higher $ tag then she had seen from previous pm’s. Don’t think she was getting bent outta shape over it. Just observing something and coming to her thread to share with people. Everyone, o/o, l/p, and company drivers all have ups and downs and come here to TTR to comment on a particularly frustrating situation. It’s called life.

I don’t get the impression Uturngirl is freaking out or bent out of shape - just sharing something that happened.

Course, I might not know that much, I’m just a lowly company driver lol. Anyway, my .02 for what that’s worth...

Try to never get any service done at a truck stop..... find a local shop near your home and do all your regular maintenance there.......

Keep the posts coming on your experience, some of us like reading the updates. This board is full of Monday Quarterbacks who like to act as if they have never made a mistake, never been burnt in this industry, and always have the best way of doing whatever it is that you just did.

Shop around for fuel ... Unless you're getting at least a $.20 discount at Pilot. Then still shop around some more. The QTs on US69 and I44 generally beat the prices at Big Cabin and if you get a QT credit card - no fees, no charges, unless you run a balance - you get an additional $.03 off the pump price.

Get the Fuel Book app. $2.68 today at Big Cabin, $2.58 pump price at QT - $2.55 on the QT card.

Veryblessed, RERM and UturnGirl Thank this.
