Drop by a Trimac Transportation terminal and talk to the terminal manager. Tell him you want to work there when you graduate from cdl school. Tell him you'd like to run the roads long haul if he will let you. After 2 yrs. you'll make over $100K. First couple of years probably $60K - $70K.
At tanker companies you must win the heart and mind of the terminal manager to be hired.

"Tell you what you can't do.." Excuse me while I rotf...
First off.. 2K a week is really tough and is reserved for those who are essentially warriors in certain very specialized parts of trucking. A newbie will never be able to access that kind of work for years. You would have to demonstrate a first class as in flawless work for a very long time to even be considered.
Trucking is a place that tells you what you can and cannot do. The Trucker has to figure out how to load a box full of Despicables and deliver it to the toy store across the USA without breaking any innumerable stack of laws. And then listen to dispatchers, brokers and so on telling you no some of the time.
Trucking has been around pretty much about a hundred years after the end of ww1 the way we do it. However it dates almost to 1640 in our land when we were a British Crown. And even back further than that hauling stuff. It is something totally unlike your common flipburger job or a professional white collar cubicle make work. You are fixing to get into something that can potentially take your life or that of someone, or many someones if you make a mistake. Note I said potentially. You can be fired for scraping a telephone pole that happened to snap and cut power to a town of 10,000 ....oops.
Should I go on? Trucking also has many amazing things to offer you. You will learn all about America and the peoples that populate our land. And someday you will tell your children stories.Bob Dobalina and akfisher Thank this. -
