Dated a gal who worked at a company with trucks doing day hauling. She said the owner treated the drivers like S!
Work environment here is awful. They all treat you like S! Other employees treat you like S! It's nothing but a big fight. They're not working.
I also just don't like the daily grind. Same time, same place, same Bat channel. yadda yadda

 

Common now.. 15 per hour at 60

Only thing I can come up with is they are talking about their checks after deductions. 15 an hour at 60 hrs per week is 900, not 400-500.

 

When all the talk and strikes and what not started a couple years back. All i could do was shake my head and say WOW. The local dirt haulers in my state don't make that. What makes the burger flippers think they're worth more then the guys that had to learn something.

Wages have gone up a little since then. Now they're back to reality before the depression started. Burgers made half as much before the depression. Now they make just as much.

When we were growing up. Our parents taught us that education was needed if we ever wanted to be successful in life. I don't see no need for an education these days when the uneducated makes just as much if not more. I don't even think the airlines pilots make as much as they once did anymore. At least, not the 2 from delta i delivered flatbed to. They retired because the wages weren't worth their experience. After 9/11

 

Education pays. To say it does not is ludicrous. My daughter earns 50% more than I do and #1 son earns 90% more. Folks who are not educated are not exposed so much to successful careers. They think $25 per hour is big money. It’s squat to a educated professional or tradesman

you willing to work for?????

I will bet that you are not willing to work for a
"reasonable" wage. So if a "reasonable" wage isn't
enough for you why should it be enough for me?????

 

And rich people won't do the work.

 

You are very mistaken in this quote and its a mistake I see very often. We no longer live in a manufacturing country, we have a "consumer" driven economy.

That one so called rich guy running a company with 30 employees might buy 1 or 2 cars to drive. He will only eat 3 meals a day wear one pair of clothes each day. He will likely only own one home...

Meanwhile those 30 employees all need cars, they all need 3 meals a day, they all need clothes and homes to stay in. Perhaps what they buy doesnt cost as much per item as what the rich guy buys but those 30 workers and the millions of others are what drives our economy.

That economy, is what drives jobs... With out poor people you, nor me or anyone on this board would have a job... See how far our economy would go if only the small precentage of well off people bought stuff... There sure as hell wouldnt be many trucks on the road...

 

I'm educated. Schooled for 2 trades. And now I make the same as the uneducated.

Boss's son is educated. Spent $100g to learn a trade. He makes less then me.

He wants to be a trucker to increase his income. His wife don't want to be married to a trucker.

THAT'S ludicrous.

 

No I wouldn’t work for little... now. But I’m worth more now.

My first job in life was a restaurant job. In fact my first 3 jobs were. I was teen age then and didn’t know a #### thing about how to work for pay. I had to be babysat and trained on how to do routine and simple tasks. No way was that work I did worth the same pay as an electrician or plumber. But soon I moved on and up in life and pay. Each job paid more or offered different opportunities.

Thank god somebody gave me the opportunity to start out in life doing a low paying min wage job so I could begin my life’s journey.
