You can always spot the kids that were too scared to go outside and play. You have answered the mystery of why there are so many special forces guys walking around. Perhaps one day, you shall run into Mr Joshua.

I for one am thankful for playing Xbox back in the day, that's how I discovered how much my mom slept around with the online playerbase

I've been in a CV22 Osprey military simulator, it is exactly like the real thing. I'm sure they have truck simulators that are just like the real thing, but that's not something you will find on a home entertainment system.

Im pretty sure if they stuck me into a 747 sim that is accurate to real life, I'll give it a go. It wont be pretty. But it's something worth taking a shot at. Those things are multi millions.

We had a small LAN in a museum near Polk City Fla, with world war two planes as a general subject, it's mostly for kids but contained at that time period a accurate physics frame work in software etc. The ####pits were generic and made for people who were by and large not pilots.

One day I did well with the Lightning, well enough to be told to stay in that thing and wait until the next batch of people loaded out. There was one of the staffers who flies in one with a zero wanting to take me on. Well, I got the first shot at him and he did two things that took advantage of my short of knowledge of that type of problem. First the zero had a armored tail and took most of the firepower. Second the Lightning was very heavy and once the vertical we were in wore off even with the application of water to the engines he was able to be in a position to come downstairs and finish it. You don't try to turn with a zero, it will stay inside you all day killing you.

For a variety of good reasons related to time of exercise we did not have a chance to conclude that particular fight as he was coming down and I had flopped over to try and set up the fight to advantage. It's a shame. He did well and probably would have won it depending on how much damage he was able to inflict on the way down.

My cousin is retired AF, he now works for Lockheed Martin and a AF contractor, training people to do his old job ( C130 gunship gunner).

That is how I got a ride in the CV22 simulator. The guy that runs the simulator rode shotgun and coached me through it. We had some close calls but I didn’t crash.

He said they use the simulators as much for mission training as they do pilot training. They can load a mission into the simulator, complete with accurate terrain features, building, and roads. Pilots can practice flying the mission many times before they ever leave the ground. When they actually do fly the mission, it’s like they’ve already done it before.

I love me some flight simulators as long as I have a stick. Preferably hard mounted. I think building an accurate flight Sim is a bit easier than building an accurate truck Sim. While there are plenty of changing factors for flight there are even more for a truck.

    Think of it this way,

Tire temp, brake temp, tread depth, rubber composition, brake pad thickness, brake pad composition, brake adjustment, brake gain between truck and trailer, air pressure, air pressure distribution, age of road, road temp, road contour, road debris (dust, gravel, loose asphalt) , road composition. ...........and we haven't gotten any higher than the undercarriage at this point.

Now don't get me wrong there are a million factors for a flight Sim as well but I think they are a little easier to account for.

I give huge props to any team that goes through the minutiae of building all these factors and the physics to go with them into a simulator.

All those factors can be easily simulated without accurate representations of each. You can get a certain grip type, reaction time for brakes, brake force, maybe even some bumpiness. There you go. Everything you wanted in a few numbers added to grip. You don't have to simulate the world 100% to get a real life simulator.

I didn't read all of this but my 6 and 8 year olds have a lot of hours on truck sim and I would bet $10,000 dollars that it won't help them not even 1 tiny little bit. The game lacks lying brokers, weather, real traffic, non payers, DOT inspections, heck pretty much everything other that "driving" a truck with a controller! LOL.

Now ....train sim is a different story! Very real!

It's a trucking simulator. Not a real life business simulator. You seem to be conflating owning a trucking business with driving a truck.

I was joking a little. But for real man.....truck sim is a kids game. And it does incorporate the business side of things. You have to maintain your truck, take naps, make money, etc....

It even takes your money if you run a red light.
