Back in the 70,s when I started we had a 55 mph national speed limit, We took out the map, counted the miles on all those roads we needed to take, planned the trip @ 45 mph and included all the breaks we had to take, called the receiver and set up the time near when we could make it. You are complaining about a device that records what you actually do, and then want a dispatcher with hundreds breathing down their back when you should take the time, figure it out, call the place, get directions into that place and explain the time you can get safely and legally. Then If some circumstance comes up and you going to be late, call them up and ask nicely for a different time. It is going to take talking and teaching each other to find a solution.

Refused any load that was already running late.
Got yelled at.
Truck gets there when it gets there.
The bad old days of 55 are long over. Then the split limits were taken away, those were horrible.
I choose to have a attitude that we did good. But we did not have a internet or anything in those days, it was not part of the work. -
Explain how a broker is going to get in trouble for giving a load to a compliant exempt truck?
For years bulk shippers swear the DOT has come in on them so they won't let you leave over 80k. Yet they will recieve whatever you bring them. They also don't give 2 ####s about your axles, or even know really what your talking about when the term axle out comes into the conversation.
Fact is DOT has nothing to do with it. They are afraid of repercussions of a law suit in the event you crash over gross and they let you leave that way.
How ever this E-log thing is a totally different scenario unless the truck is not exempt. Sounds an awful lot to me like a scare tactic to get those exempt trucks worried and sold. Same deal about not being able to insure them. My company has never heard that rumor.ShooterK2, x1Heavy and whoopNride Thank this. -

No! A cop who gave me citation near there long ago for having a radar detector referred to me as someone from Chicago Land. LOL! He separated himself from that area. I did not know back then if I should feel proud or ashamed to belong there.whoopNride Thanks this.
