Like they said, It SHOULD NOT cost you ANYTHING out of pocket to operate THEIR truck! You are not an O/O, you are being paid to operate their truck, not the other way around. If you figure $7-$8 per time to hook up to Idle-air, think of it this way at $.36 a mile, you have to drive almost 21 miles just to pay your idle-aire at a figure of $7.50. 21 miles too many! Like I say if the company does not want you to idle, and use idle-aire(which idle-aire is operating currently under bankruptcy anyhow and is not expected to install anymore facilities than they already have, which really isnt that many in places where you would actually need the service)then they should pay for all of it, or not have a problem with the idle issue. BTW, when I was at Celadon they paid all of the idle-aire cost, that was when they agreed with using it-obviously they dont now.

One more reason why Celadon is not THE company you think it is.

Agreed and I have found no reason to jump ship yet. I just got into my new Cascadia much more smoother than the older one. I wanted a pro star but oh well im just happy to have a new truck. I have gotten my 30tho bonus and my 1week vac bonus was aimin 4 another b4 the new year but the slowdown might hinder that.:biggrin_25525:

I'm not going to argue with someone who holds such a fervent belief in their right/duty to pay the operating costs of a LARGE CORPORATION.

Personal comfort items, like blankets, pillows and shower shoes should naturally be picked up by the driver.Call me old fashioned, but I think heat and air conditioning shouldn't be on a company drivers dime.

Good luck there Bunny. It sounds like CELADON is a great fit for you and their shareholders.Unfortunately,I don't think that arrangement would work well for most people out here interested in paying their own bills, not CELADONS..

It's obvious you will fight to the death for your right to pay CELADONS bills.Maybe they'll look out for you the same way one day.I wouldn't hold my breath though.I been out here a bit longer than you,and I can promise you they wont.

What's next? Are company drivers going to be expected to ''pitch in'' for reefer fuel and tires next?

I am the face of my company as well.I operate the equipment safely, deliver my freight on time.I maintain a clean, presentable appearence, and conduct business with customers in a courteous manner.I just don't pay their operating expenses. If that's not enough to keep their head above water,I have no reservations about quitting them.

But hey,if it works for you, go for it.I wouldn't tolerate it myself.

    Just saying.Nothing personal.

Better tell the salesman down at Brickyard Trucks that bit of news seeing they are the ones that told me this about them canceling their order. And you had better call up Stoops Freightliner and tell them to get rid off all the Celadon trucks with the plastic and paper still attatched to the steering wheels, that Celadon is due to pick up over the next several months. Also, for your info Celadon took ALL the AirRoad equipment and ALL the Digby Equipment and ALL the Warrior equipment and ALL the Highway Carriers equipment and as of Dec 5, 2008 they have bought all of the assets and equipment owned by Continental Express of Little Rock, Arkansas which includes about 400 tractors and 1100 trailers for around $24 million(ask them about this also). The only outfit that Celadon aquired without the equipment was Priority and all they wanted was the customer list. BTW, I saw a Celadon Freightliner truck with the Burlington stars Thurs night 12/4/2008 parked at a rest area in Kentucky near Lexington. And I talked to a Celadon Driver last night 12/5/2008 in Michigan who is a company driver and has a volvo with 517,000 on it-Celadon Canada, but still Celadon. Just giving the facts, obviously you are not sure of those facts--you are just guessing, why dont you ask them over there if Im correct. Have you asked about the terrorist yet??

Well Bunny I see you have made some new "friends" while I have been away to PA and back the last few days. In my trip this week, I saw probably a dozen Celadon trucks. They must not run that far north very much (I-80). Of the dozen, most were Columbias or Volvos. I saw three Pro-stars and one of those was broken down along the highway. I did not get to call recruiting before I left, and lo and behold, no email from them when I got home. Guess they are not hiring. Maybe I will call Miss Becky before I go out again... but once you send an email request for them to call, you shouldn't have to call them and BEG. I am more a professional than that. They either want to hire or not.

I still fail to see where you are getting your reliable information from..You are being told one thing from someone who isn't even employed by Celadon and I get my information from the person that goes and picks the trucks up..We have to fullfill a contract that was placed with freightliner, that is true but we as of current have more prostars than freightliners out on the road...As far as our obtaining Continental Express we have done so..But we are not keeping the equipment...The trucks that have the amount of miles on them that you mention have been maintained and are just that reliable that they don't feel it pertainent to get rid of them yet..Just because a truck has 500,000 miles or more on it doesn't mean it's a piece of junk.As far as Digby and Warrior equipment, yes we still have some of it but they are not used to haul anything,as I mentioned before, they are used for storage..and just so you know, if I wasn't sure of my facts, I wouldn't be posting what I have found out..Also FYI, we get notified everytime we aquire a new company..They tell every driver over the qualcomm..And by the way, for someone who doesn't even work for us, you sure are all up in our business like it means something to you..:yes2557:

In your eyes maybe they do...I have never said Celadon is a perfect company..Every company has it's good and bad...Does that make them a crappy company, NO IT DOESN'T...I see that you are a spouse of a trucker maybe, so I don't see why don't elaborate on your reason for your statement in MY thread..Go ahead, we are all listening..Thanks

This is Bunnies thread and how she likes Celadon and her experience with them. I rarely see them in FL and if I do its a team with a VN780 Volvo. Like Bunny said, if you have something negative to say about Celadon, take it somewhere else. This is supposed to be a Favorite trucking company. Bunny, if you ever get a run going past my neck of the woods (central fl off I-95) let me know and I'll buy you lunch.

I think they are good and if I ever get out of this state, they are on my list to check out.

    Harry,

A lot of the companies only pay half for idle air or make the drivers pay. Seeing they are picking up a portion makes me believe they care for its drivers. Hey its better than not having a/c or heat. Heck my friend who is an o/o pays for it all.
