ISX is not like n14 block hardly at all.
N14 is very close related to a big cam engine.

    nightgunner Thanks this.

1.2 million on mine. No major problems. Still have E.G.R. connected. I take mine off twice a year, clean it out and grease the pendulum.

1998 to end of 2001 should not have egr. Starting 2002 the ISX15 should have egr. Starting in 07 if my memory serves me right they started with the VG turbo and DPF. I think that the early one (98-99) had piston issues. They did offer the ISX15 during the final years of the N14, about a 4 year overlap I believe. I'd take one of the older engines over one of the newer ones.

    nightgunner and Oldironfan Thank this.

First ISX cm570 was great engine except piston, and cam issues.

What do you think of the ISX475 from 2003?

Should be ok. I drove a 2005 Volvo with a 400hp ISX had just over a million never was opened up. Oil stayed golden for long time. I did shut egr off.

    nightgunner Thanks this.

Cams cams cams. Take a look and keep an eye on them. I think the rollers in the followers go first. If you catch it before it starts eating the cam won't cost you nearly as much to fix.

Good engine though other than that. Mine was a 2000 block.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

the 05 pete i bought had an isx that had a hole on each side of the block due to the connecting rod. Heard that was common for isxs, atleast the one i had.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

I know someone who replaced the cams 2 times before a million mile. I have 1.5 million never opened the engine.

I thought the cam issues started in 2006, so you should be good. I had a 2001 565 hp, it was solid. If it’s this old and has had a rebuild it should have the updated pistons.
