    turbo as I said earlier ATTITUDE I'm not saying to always kiss their ### you need to stand up for what you believe in but there is a RIGHT WAY and a WRONG WAY of doing things.Most people need to work on their communication skills.

    I'm with turbo on this one. Skull is right too. I teamed for 6 months 6 yrs ago for Estes out of millbury ma. to toledo,oh. me and my teammate ran 5 and 5, that was during the ten hour days. we ran from sunday to sat, averaged 6600 mile a week. grant it we met the other driver in toledo oh,switched trailers and del,back to millbury ma or augusta me.had to wait for an hour or two to unload or wait till our new assigned load was ready. 920 a day is not vry good,we decided the best way to run the miles was 5 and 5, he got a shwer at ta in bloomsburg while i fueled and checked the truck,i got a shower at west middlesex pa,estes terminal,while he watched and signed the bill for loading etc and he checked the truck, we both spotted each other for a smooth back and hookup,then I would shower,we had breakfast or lunch in toledo oh, and grabbed something to go at bloomsburg pa before we left. we got 34cpm and had fun doing it. I never liked teaming but did it as a favor for our company that we worked for, estes folks in middlesex pa are some of the finest folks I have ever dealt with. greta people,they are not easy to get started with but are a class act,they don't need a union as their employer pays almost union wages and you don't have to worry about them leaving you stranded,strikes,being taken over etc,and no union dues. A team has to be efficient,make del.on time and take care of that company and dispatcher,if a team can't fullfill their dispatcher there is a big problem,they can lose the account,be fine for being late and if you are late screws up everything that dispatcher setup. I would have got to a sneider terminal and walk right in and find out if I was wrong,how I can improve our relations, diff dispatchers will tell you the truth,if they don't,compare notes and figure it out for yourself. teams don't hang around truckstops,have alot of time to bull'''. Thats why I like solo,its not as hectic. have teamed flatbedding once had alot of fun doing that,two people tarping,strapping,chaining,can't beat it if your company has plenty of work and you do not have to sit long waiting to load or unload,or get a load assignment, if your not happy ,change companies,but first try a new dispatcher., if that don't work and you know your trying your best go to the coordinator at that company,you may be surprised at his remedy,good or bad,I don't know" Do you??

    Sorry read a little more here, Turbo, you better not ever leave here you are one of the finast if not the finest. all these comments, I was told a long time ago,If you don't know how to play baseball on a try to win team you don"t belong here. Consider this,we all played baseball,I think. You have seen the fights,guys getting mad and losing,which team ussually won. The ones' that used their heads ,not their mouths. I f you lose it,you lost your point of trying to win friends and the game,and lost some,or all of the respect they had or will have had for you. Life at trucking is no different,if you can't play baseball and get on with others and always try to win. That is all anyone can ask of your,do your best and someone there will respect that"" When I start with a company i set the record straight,i tell them i am not one to talk alot on the phone,tell me what you want me to do.I will do my best. Hundreds of times I have showered,ate etc after unloading or getting that load on time. I keep baby wipes and an electric razor handy for emergencies. like turbo said,there is no excuse for not having time to shower,if thats a problem,shower,then grab something to eat on the go, how can you sit there with us dirty and still eat,when your hair is greasy we all know your dirty,theres no excuse for it. I hate it ,3/4 of the drivers out there don't wash their hands when they leave the restrooms,that includes everybody,workers, 4 wheelers, Look around,you won't believe it,my father died years ago and he always made the 8 of us washup after going to the bathroom. I am reminded of this everytime a guy goes flying by me out of the toilet,the guy almost runs me over ,guess he got a big load off his mind'' ha'' ha'',and guess what he's at the TA buffet filling up again,getting ready for his next load. thank god for cell phones we used to have to pickup the same phone after him. THat is my worst pet peeve,my wife just told me most of the ladies come right out of the stalls and don't wash their hands either. I had to ask her that,never thought to ask her that,I know she's clean. oh well,got carried away.

    Funny funny. I teamed with schneider for 2 months and never ever had a problem taking a shower, eating, going to the restrooms, or just stopping to get some non moving sleep. My stl said if you need to stop and sleep just do it. As long as we were on time for our delivery it was ok. Schneider is one of the best if not the best place for a newb to start out. They do no push your hard at all, they ask you what you think your limits are and dont push it past that.

    You're right...Attitude is everything. Hey, I used to be one of those rednecked, "you ain't gonna tell me to do nothin" kind of people. Over the years, I personally worked on my attitude, and learned to kill flies with honey, instead of swatting at them all the time with sticks.

    At the same time, I understand the kind of frustration that leads people to adopt attitudes. I've worked for the best and the worst out here.

    As you say, there are right and wrong ways to approach problems that we all know are a part of the job, and we also know that there is no such thing as a perfect company to work for. But one thing that will always be true, is that we can make whatever we will of any situation, depending on how we approach it.

    Here's the thing about Schneider and myself. In the past two years, I have had several phone conversations with middle level management on a couple of issues, and I've been in contact with the recruiting department on behalf of a couple of people who needed a break. Prior to 2004, I brokered freight from them many times, and I always got a fair deal from them each and every time.

    The difference between them and other carriers that I have looked into for the purposes of assessing them on this site, is that Schneider will talk to me, and has no reservation whatsoever in discussing their training programs, policies, and the way they are approaching issues like safety, turnover, and how they treat newbies. I consider them to be at the top of their game at the moment, and yet they will tell anyone that they are striving to do better each and every day.

    When I sold my last truck, and was looking for a place to land as a company driver, they were at the top of my very short list of companies that I was considering, but at the time, they just didn't have exactly what I was looking for, so I went with number two on the list.

    So, despite any accusations by some that didn't find them to their liking, they've never paid me a dime for my tooting their horn, and I do it freely and without reservation, because they are one company that has done a 180 degree turn in the past decade.

    And, as always...don't take my word on anything. Read what others have written who HAVE worked for them. While I have a place in my heart for all truckers, newbies have a special place in my heart, and this is because I cannot stand to read those stories of how some of these companies out here treat them. It makes me want to take a baseball bat to someone's head.

    They are screwing with people's lives, who are looking to make a living for themselves. Most of these people are already dealing with adversity and months without a job. They are already at a low point, and then comes along these slick companies who will exploit them, and treat them like dirt.

    When it comes to company sponsored training, and committing a year for it, and when all aspects of the training, living accomodations while in training, the pay for that training, and the overall way that a newbie will be trained, there is not one company out there that can come close to Schneider.

    Are they perfect? No, and that's something that you will hear from their own lips. Are they for everyone? No, again. Their goal is not to fill seats. They want to build relationships with their drivers, and they take care to approve people that they feel will be not only qualified to work there, but who will work with them to stay there. They are one of the few companies out here that actually will interview a driver and/or a newbie, to get a feel of his or her ability to communicate, and they definitely gauge attitude in those interviews.

    As we can see in this thread, it's not an exact science. But then, some people can fool a polygraph machine too....

    Well Turbo I had my interview yesterday w/schneider and got my pre-conditional offer.To me to say the least they were very professional in what they do.I have talked with 1 other company that I wont name but related to Moyer and I was actually a little dismayed by them and their process but that is another story.


    Anyhow as long as my physical goes okay,[worried about blood pressure]I will start training on the 30th of this month.I'm very excited to get going as I have been looking to do this for many years.


    By the way they also offered me a dedicated run thats in my area for J.C.Penneys which I was shocked to hear due to all the horror storys that you read but I actually went to do the 48 for a few years first.


    AND NO I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A PAID VACATION!!!there is only about 9 or 10 states that I hav'nt been in anyway. I appreciate your honesty and caring for the newbie as it did help me make my decision.

    I definitely wish you well, and hope everything works out like you want.

    If you have the time, visit your Doctor and let them up your blood pressure meds a bit, if you are having problems keeping it under control. And a few tips to prevent issues related to elevated blood pressure...just in case you didn't know.

    Avoid salt for 24 hours prior to a physical.

    Avoid coffee, tea, and soft drinks that contain caffeine for twelve to 24 hours prior to your physical.

    No smoking for at least an hour before your physical. Try to go two.

    Do some deep breathing, and read something while you are in the waiting room, and take your mind off of things, especially worrying about whether or not you will pass.

    Thanks Turbo I am not on meds yet but the last time it was checked I was 140/90 right on the border.I will go get it checked and take up your advise also. I have also been told that hawethorne berry extract helps lower it,so I'm going to try that too.


    Dam teen-age daughter LOL!!!!

    Schneider sucks. I do agree with you. BUT If it is about money for you then you need to know this. and get your pack pay.


    Schneider has a new program started last (11/05) called ready pay.
    They are keeping it for the full year of 2006

    if you stay out for 28 or more days in one calander month you (depending on the leavle you are) are garenteed to make 3800.00 leavel 1) it goes up depending on what leavel you are...

    how come you dont try to help lost drivers. why do you have to make it sound like its so nice over at scheider.

    how come scheider has a 90% turn over (lost drivers out of each class)

    I made around 2800miles a week with scheider i was happy about that.

    BUT I DONT LIKE BEING JUST A NUMBER THEY DONT CARE ABOUT!



    But dont try to make scheider sound like its perfect.

    Here is what happen to me.

    I joined last July, School said every 2 weeks you get home for 2 days.
    If you need to get home for Emergancy you can take a garantee (you get 6 a year)

    Well lets see. I had court. had my wife fax in the papers so my STL knew i had court. I reminded him 1 week before the date. date came and went and i never even got in the same state. Court then set a new time. we told my STL time came and went i still was not home. court then said this is the LAST time. I got home for that one. and i won in court too.

    Payday. one week i got a Zero Pay. I called and asked why. they said becuse you load you picked up on monday did not deliver until after cut off date. (i had a real long long run 3000.00 mile run) I reminded them im on the 500.00 a week garentee. they said that was not the case when things like this happen. I said ok.

    So then the next week i got paid for that 3000.00 mile run. but noticed i did not make my gareentee 500.00 So i called. they now said becuse i just got paid for that 3000.00 mile run that i made over the 500.00 i reminded them that was for the week before not this week. but they said NO that dont count. (so they ripped me 500.00)

    My child Graduated from school I told them 1 month before i had to go home for it. they put it in the computer (i know this becuse i checked by asking a stl in Gary IN.) so now i know it was in there.

    MY STL was sick for a week, so i left messages on the qualcom reminding them the date was coming in 5days, 4 days 3 days. 2 days. (then i broke down) they fixed it in day 1) But instead of letting me go home they gave me a new load going the wrong way. So i did not get home to see (my Kid graduate from highschool) I did call them and say wait i requested this a full month ago. they said sometimes things dotn work out.


    I left schneider that weekend when i called and said i still want to get home for this weekend so at least i can be at her party, and giver the gift i baught her in the same week she graduated. the person on the phone got upset at me, (it was not my STL it was the 2 shift crew) So i quit right on the spot!

    My STL said he put me down as ok to be rehired. So i was a good driver. always got the loads there on time as much as possible.

    It only took schneider 4 days to send me the paper work saying I owe school money. I wrote back saying take me to court I have log books and snap shots of qualcomm showing you never got me home every 2 weeks, you missed my court 2 times, and i missed my kids graudation.

    I never hurd back from schneider.


    I am taken schneider to court. (not for money) I want to make sure this loan is off my record so that in 20 years it dont come back to bit me.

    I also am taken schneider to court so there is a record on file about this, to help the next new driver incase same crap happens to him.

    It should not be hard to win in court. I have photos of qualcomm showing messages i sent, and got back. and reasons why they did not get me home on time. I also have Log Books showing how much time i got home for. school books showing 2 weeks out 2 days home is what they are telling the students. and yes my contract.

    This should be real easy to win. I keeped real good records. (i suggest everyone keep a camera with them to take photo's of qualcomm when things go wrong so you have a record to back your self up)


    So MR 8 years with Scheider What will you say about what happen to me.
