Fairly certain he was only speaking about how they were transported.
However on the topic of a new truck cost, I'm curious as to how much of the price tag is taxes. The fet tax we have adds quite a bit to the cost of a new truck. -

That may differ per country. There's always Value Added Tax. I don't know if you are familiar with the principle of VAT, so I will explain it. Suppose you buy a new truck, and you have to pay €20,000 VAT. You pay that VAT to your truck dealer, not to the tax collector. However, your customers have to pay you VAT over your bills, so let's say that is €100,000 in that year. In principle you have to pay that €100,000 to the tax collector, however you can deduct the VAT for the truck from that amount, so you only have to pay €100,000 - €20,000 = €80,000. That's how the VAT system works, in the end the consumer pays all VAT.
You don't have to charge VAT to foreign customers within the EU. Instead they have to supply you with their VAT number, and you inform your national tax collector how much that customers has paid, and what his VAT number is. The tax collector will exchange that information with the tax collector of your customer's country, and your customer will be charged with VAT in his own country. So there is an EU-wide exchange of tax information based on VAT numbers.Last edited: Jan 6, 2018

Well, there have been two answers, but not really a definitive one. I assume that in Europe all wheels touching the ground should have working brakes with ABS. So far I haven't seen any answer that says this is the case with the NA way of transporting new tractors. In fact Spyder7723 wrote:

Any registered bussiness can reclaim VAT ,proof is the invoice.
Every 3 months there is a settlement.
So for a bussiness it is a zero operation,you give it and 3 months later you get it back.
You just need to be able to handle the cashflow.
When i buy a truck i have it invoiced 4 months before delivery.
So by the time i need to pay for the truck ,the VAT is allready back.
(Not many O O can do that as they don't have the cashflow)
Private citizens ,cities,towns,......they cannot reclaim the VAT.
All prices are advertised with VAT included.
Anything i buy that is for myself ,not bussiness related i have to pay the VAT.Oxbow Thanks this. -

Private citizens not, that is true. With cities, towns etc. it is a bit more complicated. Often they work as an authority, and then they don't have to charge VAT, but in other cases they almost work as a comnpany, and then they will have to charge VAT. Anyway, here in the Netherlands we have a VAT compensation fund for these kind of authorities.
Not over here. Prices for goods targeted at consumers always must be advertised with VAT included. Prices for goods targeted at companies (like trucks) are always advertised without VAT.
