    Hello everyone.

Am actually posting this cause am very confused to make a decision,

I graduated 4 months ago and start working with Schneider they treat me and my bro in law very good we teaming and we are happy with what we making specially when I compare what we get vs what other company give to new drivers I know we in good shape. Then after 2 months we start to haul doubles and we got some extra pay and the best thing about it is we have a dedicated account that make us drive 6k mil a week and we reset in our home every week so we make it home every week without counting against our home time which is great IMO.

I have to say Schneider is treating us very good we are very happy with the Driver leader (as they call it) we have not been in any situation that we didn’t like at least so far and we like everything…

The problem is this I have friend that know friend and they start a small company less than year ago he called me and gave me a very surprising offer that give me almost 20-25 cent extra per mil more than what we make with Schneider, better layover and he said 10 days work 5 days home also he promised 12k mil every 10 days!!!!! TBH I thought he was making a special offer at first but he said I pay every team driver this number am not making special offer specially now we need teams more than solo because of the electronic log bog thing…

Am so confused I like Schneider and like this dedicated account but at the same time this offer from this small company is too good to be refused…

Can please someone tell me why small company make such offers, what is the down side to work with them, is it better or good to me to switch before I spend 6 months with my first trucking job, is it better for my future to stay or switch. PLEASE any advice would be appreciated biggest problem in my situation is I HATE or don’t like changing jobs I like to stick with jobs am happy with and Schneider is really good to us I don’t wanna leave em and then regret it but again the offer from this small company A VERY small one maybe is really good... WHAT WHOULD YOU DO AND WHY.

Thanks in advance for all the help

I could be seen as biased, but a lot of this story screams to me "grass is greener" and you'll find it to be AstroTurf. I could be wrong, but...

If your happy where your at, doing well, no complaints, and you have a gut feeling that the switch would be wrong, I'd go with your gut.

Which is more? .45 a mile and getting 450 miles a week. Or .35 and getting 1400 a week? Be careful here. Not saying it will happen. But sometimes you can get into a situation with reduced miles.

If you look around. Drivers are getting higher pay. We're going up.
I'd say to look into the small company a little more. Visit them. Look at what he has for you to drive. Along with your teammate.
The higher pay is not a deception. The money is there.
Then, the both of you decide.
I'd say Schneider is paying you as little as they can get away with.
Leave on good terms. Schneider will take you back in a heartbeat if this doesn't work out.
The companies need to get used to it. Pay is going up.

If you ever looked at the amount of money they're making off you. It's alot. A whole lot.

Could possibly be a good option. Rates have been going through the roof & throw in the new Elog mandates.....

Teams are going to be in demand more than ever, just because of that fact of Elog mandates.

Big one would be, is it 1099 & before taxes?

Would you both still be getting benifits equal to what you get now?

Can add up to a lot, if not. Have to sit down & do the math.

Also, 12,000mi every 10 days GUARENTEED?

Can be done. But, you DO realize that is about max you both can run, IF all works out perfectly with no issues w/shippers receivers, anything else....?

That's 600 each, 1200 day with no fail or issues at all. Doable, but only in a perfect world. You should know by now it is not. Sounds awfully optimistic to GUARANTEE to you both. Maybe can do, but to GUARENTEE.....?

Obviously, must not be governed truck to make this kind of guarentee.

Bud, not trying to bust a bubble at all. Just trying to point out what I see & would question, just off the top of my head. But not saying it is a bad offer without knowing all the rest of the details. Just being the little devil on your shoulder.... I usually kick the angel on the other side! LOL

May very well be worth considering, but examine EVERYTHING thoroughly before making a move.

Market has changed drastically & need for us & especially teams has, indeed, changed with that. Just be sure to not get taken advantaged of, as that will abound, too, while these changes occur.

Good luck to you on what y'all decide. Hope it is all for the best for you both.

To be completely honest with you i have not been raised in the USA and English is not my first language that's why i didn't get or understand the first part of your answer the (grass is greener and Astro Turf ) lol i wish i know what it meant tho :D
but you completely right about my gut the reason i posted this here is because i am happy with what am doing and something telling me switching is not good even tho they really giving us about 14 cents EACH driver more than what we make with Schneider

you right more mile equals more money. but we drive ab out 6.2 k mile every 5-6 days now as its dedicated account. and this company "Promising" it will be more like 12 k every 10 days which is doable. maybe because am not trusting what they saying and scared of they won't be able to keep up to their promise about the mile am so scared of doing the switch again I THINK lol thanks for your answer

thank you for your comprehensive answer am very glad you mentioned the 1099 cause that's what the small company offered to me and tbh i have no clue about it i need to google and do research and see if this good or not. they offer this when i asked them if am going to be a company employee and if the drive i will do for them will consider me as have a full time job and my OTR experience will be increased on paper at least that was there answer 1099.

to answer you about 12k every 10 days guaranteed. lol if i can answer this question my self with i would be switching am afraid they say and do that the first few weeks then we get like 5k mile a week and they call apologizing lol.

you right about 600 is doable only in perfect or good conditions but honestly i don't see how is it not possible even in moderate condition. as for now Schneider truck is governed on the 65 mph and as i told you me and my bro in law (my teammate) are both fairly new drivers and in good or normal condition (NO SNOW) man as my first year truck driver now am officially hate SNOW more than anything else lol) but again in good or normal condition if there is no snow we never drive less than 650 daily we sometimes do 680 each daily of course having a dedicated account and knowing the road is very helpful but again this new company will give us ungoverned truck (as they said) so we can go 70 with it i can't see how the 600 is not doable if there is no snow again you have way more experience than me so we didn't face yet a situation to be very late at costumer or loading unloading when we start with Schneider as team as far as i remember we have to do live load one time so far.

thanks again for your answer and input bro

Talk to a good accountant about 1099. You will find you can write of an awful lot on your taxes with that.
