Did you show them your official CAT weigh bridge ticket showing the 34,000 lb? Why would it change so much thats over 1000 lb extra something don't add up thats for sure. The only thing that i would of thought would change that is fuel if you put around 300 gal in that'd be around 2000 lb extra.

You wont believe that lying scale once you use all the brakes on a semi truck...

The .. permutations possible within the physics of a semi leaning heavily on a scale is beyond the scope of this post.

Finally but not last, did you sit through snow? Did it pile up up there on the trailer maybe? Is that possible?

Did you end up with a "pyramid" load? Double stacked in the middle, singles in the nose and rear? If so, it's possible a good braking .... well let's not go there just yet.

A shifted load would be hell on wheels. But that does not compute.

I wonder if he knows enough to understand his suspension application gauge in real time will read a exact PSI on flat ground when legally at 34000...

Wouldn't account for a dot scale near the start and a different one near the end both reading the exact same.....which is a bit odd given the fact that the chances of having the same fuel level at both chicken coops so far apart are astronomical. Not to mention several cat scales in the middle (excepting the first) all showing under 34k.

I showed the officer at the weigh station the CAT ticket from California and he said all he can go by is what his scale says. I thought something was wrong with his scale but the weigh station in Tennessee came up 35100 as well AFTER I CAT scaled two more times in Oklahoma and Arkansas, and both of those were under 34k....I put in 170 gallons of fuel before I CAT scaled in Arkansas and I was under 34k.

no, I didnt sit through any snow or ice

so, does that mean pressing the brakes on the scale could likely cause the drive weight to go up 1100 pounds, haha

    Haha nothing doing.

Maybe I should not have used several large words.

Every time you get on DOT scale (Or any scale) have that rig settled so she floats nicely in place. IF the scalemaster is any good he'll allow a moment to stabilize the final numbers.

That usually means no brakes. It;s a form of precision trucking that is learned in experience.

Show them your CAT scale and tell both states to pound sand. Sounds like it's too late though. They would never write the ticket if they thought you would fight it. You did your job and even weighed twice. Someone's scales are wrong. Contact CAT. The number is on the back of your ticket. Don't pay a erroneous ticket.

No, it is double stacked all the way

Not familiar with the suspension gauge or what you mean exactly? You care to explain in rookie terms?

Ok, I will do that, thanks

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.
