My hubby just interviewed with them for a local position. They want him to sign a confidential agreement that pretty much states for 2 years after leaving NFI you cannot work another company that does similar service or uses the same suppliers. There was also another paper that states he agrees to pay for any maintenance, damage, wreckage...etc up to $500.00. It doesn't state anything about it wasn't his fought or not. They take $10.00 a week out for this reason. Has anyone else heard of this.

WOW!! Whats that about!!
-
I was told the $10 a week was to cover the expense of recovering the truck should I quit and abandon it somewhere other than where it is normally parked when I finish for the day. According to my paystubs, they stopped the deduction after the first year, and it's built a small amount interest over the past 3 years. I've talked to some guys that have left over the years, and this money plus interest has been returned after they left the company.
As for the "confidential agreement", I don't remember it from when I was hired. That's not to say I didn't sign one. There was a lot of paperwork from that time. Everyone I've kept in touch with after they left however have stayed in the industry.
Which account was he interviewed for? It might be something account specific, but I couldn't be sure. -
I agree to reimburse NFI interactive logistics all cost on claims, accidents, wreckers, and repairs costs will be limited to $500.00 unless agreed upon by NFI interactive logistics managements personnel and myself.
There is nothing in there that states if the driver is found at fought or not, like my husband says what if his tire blows out, are they going to take it out of the fund? Also, he said that they share trucks so what if someone else damages the truck and plays it off that they didn't do it. -
I swore to myself I was going to stay off of this site for reason's I won't go into but I felt the need to respond...
I've never heard of any driver paying for anything out of pocket while working for the company but then again I only come in contact with a very small portion of a huge company.
I'll have to go back & add this...
The worst thing about NFI is the trucks are still set at 61 MPH even though fuel prices have dropped & about every other comnpany has turned their trucks back up. Some states I run in have a 75 MPH speed limit & it really bites when traffic gets bottle-necked up behind you & they ride right under your ICC bumper till they can get around. -
I see they have a terminal in Gastonia NC. Do you know if they consider new CDL grads and train them? Good post and sounds like a good company. How are your miles holding up lately? Thanks for any information.

The website said 6 months experience. And they have transitional driver training.

In Florida, they have Ross dedicated, old navy and another company. I hear they pay good for being an independent contractor.
