...to start.
I have a buddy who bought a new KW T680 a few months ago. He told me that last week he received a service tech notice from the dealership saying that KW has been having some issues with these logging devices plugging into the ECM ports. To the extent that some ECM's have been fried completely.
The warning was that IF there are issues with the ECM and they can prove it's related to the elogs being plugged into the ECM, they will VOID the freaking warranty!
Think about the legal quagmire this can create from a liability standpoint. The lawyers will be lining up to go after anyone and everyone they can for damages, including the FMCSA.
This could end up being a very juicy irony in the end run![]()
I'm waiting for the class action lawsuits...

Maybe the lawyers will even drag the head of the ATA in for "leveling the playing field!" LOL

If this does become a litigious problem, the FMCSA would definitely be drug in, they are the one's that created and enforce the ELD requirement.Broke Down 69, Jagsfan and Oxbow Thank this. -

If I were the head of the OOIDA, that's what I would do next. Try and find a couple of poor guys who were just trying to obey the ELD mandate law and as a result their ECM fried with no recourse from the manufacturer. Then I'd file a class action lawsuit, (inviting the rest of us who are owner operators to join in) against the FMCSA & ELD manufacturers for damages.
