i picked up a trailer that needed brake pads and tires as well as a license plate lamp. All I was given at the pick up was trailer registration. I still needed a inspection report as well as trailer insurance. I took the trailer to Loves and had the lamp repaired and then the trailer inspected. The mechanic listed my brakes and tires as needing repair. I contacted my boss and showed him a pic of the trailer inspection. He said he didn’t trust Loves mechanics and would send me a trailer inspection from the home shop. So he wants me to load out with a false inspection report and the same equipment problems.
MY QUANDARY:
Do I take a chance of driving with bad equipment and keep my job? Or pull into the next scale house and make them aware of the false inspection and bad equipment and lose my job?
Report a violation or not?

Doesn't trust the mechanics at Loves? Well ok then see if he trusts the DOT. If it was just an mt move right back to there shop to get repaired I might do that if was a fairly short distance but other that that no way. Do you need this job that bad, its your ### on the line.

Definitely not plan B.
"Needing repair" I'd have asked the mechanic if it is bad enough to be put out of service. If they said yes, I would have asked for it to be put in writing on the inspection / estimate. -
If you pull into a scale as a whistle blower kind of thing, your still going to get hammered for driving defective equipment.
It doesn’t work that way. You could call the highway patrol before you move it, but I'm not sure how that would turn out.
Notify your boss in writing of the defects. Email or text. Now your butt is covered, and you're protected from wrongful termination under STAA rules.
Next, find a real company to work for.Bean Jr., scottied67 and otherhalftw Thank this.
