Just got my General after being inactive for over 15 years. My how things have changed. I hope to have a rig in my truck soon. With the new digital VHF/UHF you can talk to almost any one any where. I still love HF though and am brushing up on my CW. I have an Icom 7300 and Im looking at the new VHF/UHF rigs. Volvo Terry is really getting it done, very nice setup.
TheRATT, stacks and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
I like HF as a base radio. PITA using for NVIS on 75 meters. I have 2 meters in the truck. It's just so easy, LOL!

Hey, you guys that are on 2 meters, do you monitor the national calling simplex frequency 146.520? I think if you are familiar with an area you could tune in to a local repeater, but what if you are just an OTR guy looking to chat?
ThanksCrude Truckin' Thanks this. -
Most of the time you can't even get anyone to answer you on a repeater out here, .520 is even worse..
MarkH129 Thanks this. -
Yes I monitor .520 but more likely on 7.187 or 14.287

Unless you are running at least 50w or more (like my 110w Motorola Spectra), your range won't be that good anyway..
