I was trying to get home after running up on the Midwest and the East/Southeast since before Christmas. Now my dispatcher told me that average load pay out of Los Angeles area is about $1.50 right now for dry van.At first I didn't believe it.Then I started to check with a couple guys I know from different company and looks up the load board they're all telling me the same thing. No joking!!! How could trucks driver make out of this with e-log come in play and pay rate are super low??? Man...I guess I have to missed home for awhile.

when i ran the road, as a driver, not an o/o, freight going INTO California is plentiful.

coming out however, was slim pickens. i can see that over about now 35 years, that ain't changed by much, if at all.

some will say they stay out of CA, and go no further than say Texas. all those miles driven mean squat going in, when you don't get enough outta there.

i am not able to see any load board. questions do arise, weights, delivery times, load, distance, etc, etc. not all drivers can take all freight.

yes, i know, get's them out, but maybe not to an area they wish to go to?

Load going to Washington and Oregon are exceptional. They always pay good but you will run into another dead end there after empty. Also fuel are very expensive on that route.

so like i alluded to, too many variables.

are you a l/o? can you ask for a shorter area to work with, rather than all 48?

Got a couple trucks coming out of socal at $2.32 a mile, hauling the same thing to two different deliveries. The broker called and begged one of my drivers to take the first one and he mentioned he had to find another truck for the other and my driver told him to call his cohort sitting next to him in Ontario.

I don't think we have seen below $2 a mile out of cali in a long long time.
