    Hello everyone.

I had a question about posted rates. I don’t really ever use the loadboad I have my own customers however as I grow I am curious.

I’ve spent about 5 hours today on power DAT and took the posted rate and ran the miles to come up with the per mile rate.

Average across the US for me came out to about 2.30 a mile.

Is this low? HOw often are posted rates firm by brokers? Do they usually have room for another couple hundred bucks?

I personally wouldn’t take a load for 2.30 a mile for my truck.

What do you all think. Are actual rates you all are receiving more than that average? And not on short 100-300 miles. I’m talking about loads over 500 miles.

Depends on the lane. Weight. Stops.
If it's going into Oregon, south Florida, or north/east of Pennsylvania them I start at 2.50
More than one pickup or drop, add 25 com.
    More than 35k, adds 10cpm.

That's just my system though. Everyone is different. I've seen loads posted for 2k for a 1200 mile trip into miami, and got 4900. depends on many things. Many brokers will say that's all they have in it, thank them and look some more.

    That makes sense.

Thanks bud. Luckily I have customers but not enough if I add two more trucks. I will have to use load boards.

I've pulled a few DAT loads @ $2600-$3000 for 12oo miles round trip (yeah, I know, that's cheap)

    but here's the deal:
    -drop/hook
    -25K one way/ empty back
    - power only
    - pick up @ my convenience & drop at my convenience

Total commitment was 34hrs and my calc is: $76/hr and 8mpg (Fuel cost was $375 at $2.50/gal at Grocery store pumps)

I'm sure the broker was pleased, and so was I, since I dont have a trailer.

In 1.5 months, the truck has returned all the money I invested in it, and from here on, it's just gravy.

    Across the country?

Line haul long distance is lower rate per mile generally.

Currently that's low for this market.

That is a good rate for prior markets before the ELD law started causing massive truck capacity shortages.

The new norm is $3+ mi for long haul and $10/mi or more short haul.

    Thank you ELDs !!

Just tried to setup shipping for a vehicle.
After being bombarded with email and phone calls I finally decide to call the lowest quote.
    They ran between $1050-$1350.
The douch bag needs my phone number 3 times.
I then try giving him a secondary phone number..he proceeds to tell me he hasnt got time for this.
    I kindly tell him..go #### yourself!
