Federal Law trumps states rights. If the states wish to assert themselves, then there needs under our Laws to be a 32 state supermajority, called a Constitutional Convention over a particular issue. Once each of the 32 state houses agree together (Which will take time) then it becomes a Constitutional Amendment. Federals will have no choice but to back down.

    However.

Trucking is federally regulated. As such Pot remains a schedule One drug. Which AUTOMATICALLY DQ any CDL driver issued that Schedule One medication period. No ifs, buts or maybes.

You will have enforcement from a mass of Police for DUI, DWI etc etc etc pulling people driving drugged from cars and you wish to allow a million semi trucks to run stoned?

    Over my dead body.

As X1heavy said above...State law doesn't matter if your in a federal job or one thats has overseeing from big Gov. Truckers, police, countless fed jobs, and many others will go by federal law vs state law. This is why the big ruckus was made when pot was first legalized in CO an WA. States were afraid the feds would raid the legit shops. It's why they had to come out an say unless the shops in the legal state were doing something wrong they wouldn't make a fuss over it.

Trucking is included in the above due to the CDL and all. I don't agree you'd have a million stoners driving trucks. It would be the same as booze...the responsible ones would do it when they knew they could an be safe. The non responsible will become statistics an numbers. An yes, they do have ways to tell if you've smoked recently. I think the cops are using the mouth swabs. Peeing in a cup an a hair test just show that you have "used" them. Peeing in a cup won't tell you if someone hit a bong right before or 6 days ago. Just that you have higher amounts of thc in your body then your body normally produces.(They go by nano-grams or sumsuch.)

Unless the feds change their minds, federal law trumps state law in most instances. I see this changing in the future though. An a Class 1 drug means it has no acceptable medical use, which is ######## when it comes to pot an every other country out there. ;) Cept for the good old U.S. of A. Heroin? Medical use. Cocaine? Medical use. An many others. Yet..the biggest drug issue isn't pot..it's those prescriptions you get from your doctor. Pill abuse is quite high an just as easy to get if not easier then pot.

An again..I'm against people being stupid, an driving a commercial vehicle under ANY SUBSTANCE. An yes...I have more faith in the pot head driving then I do the dude all doped up on Xanx, adderal, or whatever the newest cool pill is.

Sirscrapntruckalot - Don't be stupid, don't drive your truck under the influence of anything...ANYTHING.

Driving under the influence would be bad. Yes. But the article was about those that tested positive. Which we all know can happen upwards of 6 months plus.

The effects of dope can last months after your "high" wears off. And no one should be behind the wheel on any mood altering drug.

    Xanax, Lithium, Percocet, Adderal.......

I also want those insipid energy drinks banned but one step at a time ;)

It's ok. Maybe I did make a noise here and there. I have two faces when it comes to drugs. Medicine is one thing and things given to us in the earth are the same. But I am not a naturalist or none of that haw haw.

My concept I am trying to express is that (Bear with me...) perhaps the United States is systematically criminalizing the use of the things that grow around us. Can you imagine synthetic coffee in the morning? Or perhaps replicated bread or god knows what else with no basis in nature. Is it possible that the medicines in nature are being eradicated so that we must go to the pill doctor and hand over money for the same benefit. I tend to push back on that a little bit.

When I went into Canada, UK etc in my travels and got clear of the USA I discovered that there is a few things that are truly good and enjoyable but not found inside the USA. Orange Pekoe Tea would be one example. You cannot get that here. But Winsdor has em by the case. So I guess Ive got a food shopping list.

The so called war on narcotics IE Pain medicine is somewhat too organized, too neat if not also too quickly put together. We took what 40 years for "Say No to Drugs" and so forth to evolve into drugs that are being cut with Fentenyal (I have had that twice. The second time was a lethal reaction that needed stopping.) And people are dropping around us in the streets with the needle not fully injected because that Fent just kills em that quick. They don't even have a taste of the high now that they are dead while still working that needle.

The doses are so small with "F", you are getting into the realm of "Micro-gram" now I don't know about you but I am not aware of a kitchen scale capable of weighing in Microgram. Two milligram which is really really small dose is sufficient to kill dozens just by touching it into your skin. And youre dead. Boom. done. End of story. It is the king of painkillers and in IV form at the ER it will take you back to being 14 again until your heart quits. (They can work on that problem when they get that far in...) I can see where people would be addicted to that stuff. The world just goes away on it.

I prefer to live in this world rough road, bad coffee, profane dispatcher and all that thank you very much. LOL.

Actually reading the article it's not too bad, at least the way I read it.
Maine is pushing legislation that will not allow a company to fire one for pot use.
DOT says pot use is forbidden to drive a truck.

So someone in Maine uses pot, gets caught. Instead of the trucking company firing them, they simply don't give them any miles as it's illegal on a federal level to allow the driver to drive.

Problem solves it self once the driver quits after earning no money for weeks on end.

There are foods you can get outside of the USA that are not sold or availible inside the USA.

    Outside - inside. =)
