i guess i could see not know where the werner truck was going, i run the same route everyday so yeah i kind of know where i am going. as far as the schnieder truck his entire technique was wrong. no im not perfect but i know i have to pull forward before i turn..... and im only driving a 48' tanker with a day cab, he is driving a 53' and a sleeper.
its fairly simple.....look both ways make sure both lanes are clear, pull forward then turn... watch the tandems in the mirror.
the guy was probably a student. i pride myself on a clean record. every-time i leave that yard, i always say to myself i AM NOT going to have any incidents or accidents today. im sure i have done some dumb things lol.
amazing how bad the mega drivers are

Want to have some fun one day. Get out and walk around the truck parking (if you can stand the smell of urine) and look at all the tractors with scratch marks and dents on the right side from the front fender all the way back to the fairings. Then notice the ones with missing and bent fairings.

I am going to poke fun of myself for a minute. Back sometime around 2011 I was in Indy. I had just finished a tough long day and was told because I had some time left to go up in the northside and take my 10. I was not thinking and did not make that left turn to go north and just crossed through the light. As you can see it is a dead end. I was tired. I came very close to doing some very expensive damage that day. Thankfully a guy came running out and told me to follow him and he got me turned around. I went back to the fishhook and shut down. None of us is perfect.

You understand that not having any accidents doesn't mean that you're a good driver.
You understand that when you have to go to a different area, you're a rookie all over again.
You understand that despite bringing that A Game last decade, last year, last week, yesterday and today, you will still have to bring that A Game tomorrow.
You understand that we shouldn't compare ourselves to other because we can only improve upon ourselves. And you understand that we can always continually improve.
You understand...
...and yet...
...you post in this thread. I salute you.Texas_hwy_287, BigBob410, aussiejosh and 7 others Thank this. -

on thing i am not is complacent which is what probably keeps me out of trouble. im always looking at my surroundings. ALWAYS. when in doubt get it and look..... and another thing i never get closer to the milk house then i need to be, plenty backing accidents caused by guys getting to close to the building.... if you still have 20 feet of hose to play with thats mighty stupid. never get closer then you need to be.... there is one farm on my route that the tank is further from the wall and you need most of the hose. a few times i had to back the truck up another foot or two because i was to far away. better too far away then too close.
common sense does go a long way in trucking.
i do agree that if i went into a new area that would make me a rookie all over again. i would ask someone go with me and show me that particular farm, how to get in and how to leave without hitting anything or ditching the trailer. farms have their own sets of challenges.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
driving in Boston during the Big Dig was hell in a 4-door. Can’t imagine it in a truck
