I’m with ad356. No autos for me. While I was still thinking of leasing on at Schneider again, I considered a new truck. Of the 15 or so available, just two were manuals.
amazing how bad the mega drivers are

When that happens, I just bang on the side of their truck and tell them I'm leaving, and they're welcome to my spot after they move so I can get out.
Most were very appreciative, because there weren't any other spots available when they parked.Lepton1 and gentleroger Thank this. -
Its also why I try to park where I can't get blocked in.
Last week I had my trainee back into a spot at the end of day. I chose a nice easy one for him, out of the way so no one would be inconvenienced by him taking 15 minutes to get in the hole.
Once he was in I moved us over to the spot we would overnight in - one where getting hit would be unlikely and no way to be blocked in. Annoying (not hard, just needed to be precise), but worth it. My guy didn't understand until 0500 the next morning when guys were wedged in every which way, while we had a straight shout out.48Packard Thanks this. -

Yep. An experienced driver looks at a truck stop not as it is but how it will look at 3AM. The drivers that made me laugh were the ones that pulled into spots I knew would get stuck in. I found myself hoping they were not having to leave early.

It's all in the planning.
Get out early and get shut down early so you have a good parking space. Most loads have at least some leeway to help you plan things correctly.
The loads that don't, I usually refuse. My focus is just as much about how I can plan my trip as it is anything else.sevenmph Thanks this. -
Had a run in with a PAM driver at the TA in Paulsboro nj yesterday .
Guy pulls out of parking spot in front of me as I'm exiting the truck stop so I stop knowing he probably couldn't see me no big deal .
Then gets half out and sets his brakes and I go around him .
He honks and and at the stop sign he gets out of his truck and wants to fight.
I told the bonehead to get lost and if he keeps up his crap someone will shoot him .
Don't these megas teach any commen sence ?
I don't carry a gun but a lot do and ya go up to someone raising he'll with em and you're gonna get popped in this day and age .austinmike Thanks this.
