I used a chemical hair straightener in the 90s and it burnt my scalp to the point I still have marks on my head.

Or maybe you got a chip on your shoulder the size of Texas. I do a lot of mechanical work for people, both make and female and if i address a female as hon or sweetheart, it is no different that addressing a male as dude or bud. Perhaps that guy was a condescending sexist, but to jump to that conclusion based on being addressed as sweetheart or honey is a bit presumptuous
