Everything you said in this post really has nothing to do with ELDs. It has to do with inneficiant HOS that need a MAJOR overhaul. When are we going to get that through our thick heads? The ELD is just a tool that keeps track of your HOS status.
I will agree with you about not being impressed with the new drivers in this industry. But I was never overly impressed with a lot of the old hands in this industry either.

ELD is a joke. There's so many technical issues With Them right now, alot of people, companies and DOT can't even keep them straight and figure them out.

And unions have NO power, except in a democrat administration. The bad thing is, this republican president actually likes union guys. Thats sad IMO. Because union guys are a sad lot. And as far as union guys not wanting to unload you efficiently in a reasonable amount of time, well, if you put up with that with out being properly compensated, then thats on you. Not my problem. Its real easy, JUST SAY NO.
And if everyone follows the LAW, or as you put it "comforts the drivers HOS"then those shippers and receivers will find out they either have to pay, or they won't get anyone to haul for them or to them.
Jeeze, it isn't that difficult of a concept to grasp. -

When a landmark court case establishes precedent and they use ELDs to remove liability from a trucking company or enforce detention time, then this might be the case. Otherwise, a trucking company has very little recourse besides filing on a broker’s bond or cancelling a load and deadheading.
There have been a lot of companies on Elogs for years, it’s a small ripple. I don’t have an issue with the HOS, except for the unnecessary 30 break.Dave_in_AZ and Timin770 Thank this. -
Can't cheat on the logs anymore and work 20 hour days
Anymore and get paid for 10.
It is what it is. Paper logs allow anybody in the trucking
Chain to screw up without any responsibility.
Then just dump it off on some idiot truck driver
Who breaks all the rules and takes all risks.
And he won't get a penny more for doing it.
We've all been on paper logs. I've done it.
Most everyone on here has done it.
We know exactly what goes on.
Everybody in this industry knows what goes on
With paper logs.
Can't handle the ELD, turn in your keys and go home. -
