It wasn't but two or three years ago that Swift initiated a nationwide driver pay increase - by doing it first.
    Does no one remember?
A year later we got another increase, which again made the rest follow along.

When the 'lowest of the bottom feeders' leads, the others have no choice but to follow.

Swift has not been lagging behind in this industry... they have been the leader in many ways.
Every driver on the road has benefited from the bold moves Swift has done in the past few years.

A couple weeks ago I was heading south on I-29 from SD, then west on I-80 through NE just after a storm that included a lot of ice.
There were dozens of cars and at least a dozen trucks in the ditch, with one Swift truck in the mix.
Most of the trucks appeared to be O/O, with a only few mega carriers.

K, the truck bit will be hard to prove w/o pics.
But the snowfall I'll pull off the Gray, ME NOAA site for Portland on Thursday.

On a technicality, you already have a win. But good luck all the same.

Question for U Moose, I know that Ur a died in the Wool Swifty but don't U think that part of the Industries Problems are caused by the bottom of the Barrel Pay that Swift has been giving U and Ur Fellow Drivers over the Years?

When U pay on the Lowside U can be a Trend Setter and increase CPM and still not attract Quality Drivers because Ur New Pay Rate is only coming up to the Level of other Low Paying Companies

Swift hires drivers new to the industry, for the most part. As such the pay tends to be lower.
There is always a starting point in any line of work.

My point was that Swift raised driver pay and the rest followed, simply to keep what advantage they had.
    Everyone benefited from it.

Another point was that I don't see any more Swift drivers in the ditch, percentage wise, than any other company.
And the O/O crowd has a higher percentage by far from what I have seen. They are simply more reckless and uncaring for safety.

Do you know why I like Swift?
It is because I can control how I do things as a company driver, nothing more.
No one bothers me or tries to control how I run my loads.

I have no desire to own my own truck, or lease one. I just want to do the job. And I have that right here.
If I don't make the top pay, I really don't care. My concern is that I do things my own way, in my own time.

    To this point directly...

    No, I do not.
No more so than any other company that trains and hires new people into any line of work.

There is a starting point for everything, and the pay is always at its lowest when first starting out.
Swift is one of only a few companies that offer a starting point. Most require at least 1 year OTR experience.
Where is someone to get that experience, just starting out?

Your points really have no merit, and you should rethink your point of view.
