if you are close to a Walmart or you know some convenience store or something like that call him up and ask him but I know Walmarts are usually pretty good about letting truck drivers Park their stuff there for a couple days
Considering Werner until this.

I am a current Werner Driver.
Inverters: the latest that I've heard is that Trainers, Teams, and Million Mile+ drivers are allowed to have inverters installed at company terminals. The newer trucks that are coming out like the 2018 Cascadias are coming with inverters already built into the bunk area. This will soon alleviate the entire problem.
Dollar accounts: I run for Dollar Tree and it's not all that bad. I never have to fight for miles and I am never sitting if I don't want to be. I have never heard of an OTR guy being forced to run a Dollar account load. The only one you can even do without the equipment (gravity rollers) is Dollar General.
Idling: My peterbilt will idle if it is above 70 degrees or below 25 degrees. If it's 65 degrees outside that is beautiful weather and there is no reason to idle anyways. For the cold there is a bunk heater installed and that thing can roast you out if you want to set it to full blast.
As for a tv and DVD player... I would honestly just get a bigger screened laptop. I honestly don't see how anyone has any time other than on their 34 reset to even watch TV. By the time I shut down, talk to my wife, eat and shower, I've only got about 8 hrs left on a 10hr break and I'm using that to sleep.
Also don't forget where are you putting all of these items? Fridges and microwaves aren't tiny. My fridge takes up 1/2 my floor in the back. Add on a tv and DVD player and now you've got cords flying all over the place. Most company trucks don't have a tv mount pre-installed.Ultratowel Thanks this. -
Werner has many fans on here who are brand new posters.

More why an inverted would be an ideal necessity. That being said though. I think I’m gonna go with CFI.Chinatown Thanks this. -
So they have Tv's with DVD players built in that plug into the 12v outlets. Only reason I said possibly a laptop is because you can watch movies, play games, and do anything else while being able to charge off of the 12v outlets.
Also for space reasons. Depending on the truck you get you may find that having all these items makes it hard to move around or you end up breaking something from forgetting to secure it.
Below is a picture of my fridge taking up half the #### floor. Fridges that are readily available that fit in the cubby are anywhere from 400-800 from a dealer. I searched all over and this one was still 1/2 and inch too wide to fit.

I survived 14 months at Werner, OTR. It's a fine place to start. An opportunity to see the country - paid tourism. I've got no shame in saying that. I like what I moved on to infinitely better tho.
OP, you're worried about accoutrements (a fridge, a tv, comfort), bennies, policies & punishments...... you'll be slapped more severely for a backing incident than for idling when it's 115* in the shade in Laredo, TX.
Ensure you can actually drive (backward too), then worry about all that other ####.ACO476 and driverdriver Thank this.
