In my experience you won't have time for tv, with the exception of a 34 hour reset. After driving all day (or night) I just want to take a shower (which is not always possible every day) eat and go to bed. But I'm also not out for weeks at a time. I make 5 to 8 day runs that range from 3000 to 4000 miles. So most times I'm burning nearly all my 11 hours a day (not because the company makes me but because that's how I prefer to do it) and do my 34 at home. My company also has diesel bunk heaters and refrigerators factory installed in all its trucks... If I want an inverter I buy it and our mechanic will install it for me, no charge. I can pretty much have any creature comfort I want if I am willing to pay for the hardware. Right now I'm saving to have the CB coax cables and antennas replaced with much better quality than factory, and I already got company approval to have a CB shop do the install work.
Considering Werner until this.

It's also penny pinching on fuel costs because we have drivers who can't seem to not idle the truck when it's beautiful weather outside. They have to idle all night while leaving all their parking lights on so they can show everyone how cool their truck looks. 72 degrees outside and they have the windows up idling with the A/C set to.......72 degrees.
As for Werner I have never been talked to about idling. It says right in their policies that they would like you to keep idling time for your 10 sleep break and if it is necessary. If it's 90 degrees outside no one is going to say a word. It's just people either jumping on the "I hate Werner/Swift" bandwagon spreading false info or employees who can't figure out how to read the company handbook like a grown up. -
You have Hacksaw Hal and Duct Tape Dale installing a 3000 Watt inverter with 8 gauge wire they had laying around and they end up melting the wire, shorting out the entire electrical system, or the worst lighting the #### rig on fire. Would you trust half the drivers around to install electrical devices on a $150k tractor?
I do believe companies should allow their mechanics or another certified mechanic to install an inverter properly so drivers can have some comforts however.
Good luck on whichever company you choose. -
Don't just assume you can park at your house if you are in a city or have a Homeowner Association. Dont assume any old shopping center will let you park there. Get written permission and NEVER EVER NO MATTER WHAT leave even a corner if a napkin on the ground. Don't just park in a lot because you see other trucks parked on private property. You could discover you've been ticketed, booted, or towed. -

Mega Carriers = Poor everything for newbs + Smaller sompany's require experience = Driver Shortage.
IMHO, being young single, with no commitments, no house, no home, limited or no family or annoying family is the ideal candidate.
They can pack the money away for 5 years with little or no expenses and then buy a nice house with cash, same with car, and then find a job for the rest of your life that is 9-5.
Done until Social Security Time.Ultratowel Thanks this. -
Werner won't even let you replace a burnt out light or mudflap... Need to go to a shop and wait in line to have it fixed... Yeah, whatever.
SNI is rather rabid about thier anti idle too, Which would be ok if there was an APU.... -
I dunno.... Werner gives 2 bags of bulbs when you get your truck, 1 for the tractor and 1 for the trailer. Seems like a pretty weird thing to give someone if they arent allowed to change bulbs.
They also give you a basic tool set like a multi-screwdriver, adjustable wrench, and a hammer. Again..... pretty odd they don't want you repairing anything.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 13, 2018

The fact that you get a bag of replacement lights proves you're full of mierda.

Forgot to add that I've been changing bulbs and flaps all the #### time.
Except of course if they are 13ft in the air or maybe the flap bracket is severely bent..... but I'm sure those are the instances you were referring to.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 13, 2018
