So you are saying that Porsche does not know how to design an engine, because that is who designed the engine for the V-Rod. Besides now-a-days you can take a Harley Davidson Twin Cam 88 (96 for 2008 and up) off the show room floor and can hit 100,000 miles before any major service. To me that is a good motorcycle. Now I know of you dig hard enough you can find proof somewhere of some foriegn owned motorcycle company that has some bike that has hit more miles than that, but everything is going to break sometime.
I found this online,
12.9-liter Paccar engine, developed and produced by DAF, offering power ratings from 410 hp up to 510 hp
But I think they may end up with a higher number towards the release date.

Good post, Captain!
I always have to laugh at the guys who want to talk smack about how Harley doesn't use American made parts and blah... blah....funny thing is, they are the only ones saying this...the guys who actually own them never said they are 100% American. I personally could care less where the parts are made, or not made, the bottom line is this, it doesn't matter what you ride, just that you ride.
Hoffa, as much as you hate to admit it, all brands will have a problem child or two...I don't care whether its Harley, Yamaha, Honda....they all can have issues.Lilbit Thanks this. -
Why do I feel like I am arguing with 20 year olds who think that they are bikers because they bought a jacket at the Harley boutique.
Harley dealer = Fashion Bug -
Just because people don't agree with you does not give you the right to insult people.
Most of the Harley owners I know are true Harley owners, not following some fashion. -
I wonder how long it will be before Jimmy Hoffa "dissapears" from this forum???
C16KIWI Thanks this. -

Why am I going to get kicked off? Because I think 379 Petes, Cat engines, and Harleys are overpriced junk?
Or because I am a Teamster? -
For some reason I could see all this bickering coming win this post started, never fails.

At my old company we ran Freightliners, Macks, Internationals, and Peterbilts. These were all dump trucks so it may be a little different but here are my observations. The best motors were the CATS and the E7-454 Mack Ch's as far as reliability. The worst motors were the Mack 427's and the Cummins that was in the International. When I was there we were down to one International because the boss was tired of the downtime and it was strickly a stockpile truck due to breakdowns. I'm not sure what Cummins it had but it was a mid-late 90's model International and it had an air starter if that tells you anything. That #### thing was ALWAYS broke down, I'm sure International was at fault as much as Cummins was seeing it wasn't always engine issues. I've never seen a truck catch on fire so many times due to it's electrical system. My boss was still running a Pete with a CAT that was bought in 1984, thats a long life for a dumptruck. When I drove in Mo I had a 2003 W900 w/C15 triaxle, empty it was 30,500 lbs. I was leaving the quarrey at 89,900 lbs and it pulled like a champ. Only problem I had in 70,000 miles was the starter went out. Now I'm still young and haven't seen all that much, but those were my observations.
