The misadventures of a rookie tanker yanker

I was thinking that too, but it's drag the dirty home.
The pump is slow here today. I'm already at 2.5 hours and still have a 1/4 tank. A little unload delay is fine with me.

 

Exactly what Lagging said. That's what makes Superior so attractive to rookies. The company runs so well that they have great retention with the experienced truckers.

 

Heading out on a GA run later today. It's a 3 day out and back. Depending on the weather, I'll go home Wednesday night or make another run out and back. I really need a sunny day at home to take care of my bees.

Non trucking Convo. Spring is nearly here and red maple has budded in my area. That's the first major food source for bees, and it has stimulated them into brood production. The hives will explode soon.

I have to either mitigate swarming by splitting or removing supersedure cells and checker boarding the frames. I want a decent honey harvest in June and more hives, so I'm going to do an early split and let them build up for the start of the honey flow in Mid April.

I'll start carrying a swarm box in my truck around March. Yes, I'd grab a swarm on the road and carry it around for a few days until I get home. The buzzing doesn't both me.

 

Bees are shipped by the thousands thru the mail. UPS and FEDEX carry a lot, so they may have seen bees before during an inspection.

 

Spent the night at the 114 in GA. Got to my delivery early in Atlanta this morning. They have to drum off a compartment, so it'll be a little longer than normal. Not a big deal since I am running back to Wilmington empty. An hour or so of unload delay is a welcomed addition to the paycheck.

If dispatch has a one day out and back on Wednesday, I'll do that. If they don't, I'll go home for a few and start a system run Saturday.

In case I haven't mentioned it, yes, I appreciate the flexibility of my job. It is taking a little time, but I'm finding a fair life/ work balance.

I've been able to take a week long vacation with the family, made all holidays, and took the wife to a B&B with a dinner cruise since coming to Superior. I'm also getting home on the next forecasted sunny day to take care of my bees, and have yet to be questioned about any time I've wanted off.
