I had one done a few months ago. Wasnt at a truckstop, and they had all the tools, but it only took a hour. One guy doing the work, AND he pressure washed the oil off the frame. Started at 8, was back on the road by 915. That includes dropping my trailer as well. 150$

What do you need help with. The parts prices are more than reasonable from a shop. The drum seems a bit high, but who knows what was available and what they put on. There’s no context for the labor, just 9 units. I doubt their rate is $50 an hour, so I’m going to guess it’s half hour increments at their shop. Kind of high, unless the races gave them a hard time, or the whole thing was a disaster being a 2005. Just posting a bill with no context is pointless. It would have cost me $325 or so to buy the parts and do the job myself.$100 for drum, $50 for shoes, $50 for good wheelseal, $100 for bearings and races, $25 for hubcap and axle nut at least.

I was thinking the same thing, a tad bit high, maybe. But all in all, still in the ballpark. Welcome to ownership is all I can say. A good PM program may be in order for the owner of the trailer. I need to do the rear bearings/races on my tractor, before they fail. That is how you have to roll out here nowadays, and do the work yourself. Catch it before it is a real problem. ;-)

He posted another thread on here where he said the wheel actually came off and after it was fixed, it was getting hot.

Holy crap!!! I just read that thread. I’d say he got a great deal on the repair if the duals ended up rolling right past him.

    For comparison...

Three weeks ago I replaced three drive seals and four sets of brake pads and drums. I didn't replace the bearings. The drums, pads, and seals were $670 at Freightliner (after subtracting the core charge). The drums were $84 each. The pads were $45 plus a $32 core charge each. The seals were $36 each. The TA that did the labor charged $762. I should have brought my own gaskets and hub oil. Those were high at the TA.

FYI, one of the seals leaked a hundred miles down the road and another TA replaced the seal and pads under warranty.
