Might be good pay for your locale. I loved hauling gasoline and diesel to gas stations. That was the prime of my career as a driver. Careful though, the required labor is deceptive at first glance. You will seriously bust a sweat delivering at 5:30PM in August, standing next to a freshly-polished petroleum tanker baking like a cookie on a sheet. Those hoses are not light when fully charged. The crackheads are the worst occupational hazard--you will come to love these new friends of yours because starting out, you'll probably get the night shift. Hauling fuel is a great gig

IF I could do 9-10 hour days daytime which will never happen. I’d do fuel in a second if the hours didn’t suck so bad.
I could go to the chemical side of tankers and find that easy though.Ribeye Thanks this. -
I'm around 53k for milk tanker, I would expect fuel would pay quite a bit more. It's hazmat and just a little more flammable then milk lol.

There is a local fuel hauler that always has openings. They list average pay as $850-950 per week so read that as the new guy on the crap routes making $650-750 gross.
Not enough for me, I suppose someone who valued sleeping at home everyday would be OK with that. -
Mr @Thull, good to hear from you. In Baton Rouge, where I-10 and i-110 split, about 4 or 5 miles north on 110, there's a big Exxon Mobile refinery (to the west of I-110, but north of I-10). Those drivers make $100k/ year. Gotta be clean shaven, okay? It's off of Chippewa Street.

Something to note though, if the job is paid by the load then night shift vs day shift makes an extreme difference. Most carriers will offer a night shift premium on top of the fact that you can bust out much more loads due to minimal traffic and delays. When I was working days I would gross $950 for a 65-70hr week. On nights I gross $1200-$1300 for a 55-60hr week.
