Yes I have including running a trash truck. Eventually though I’d love to do tractor/trailer and will need that experience.

When I trained with Werner, i trained OTR with an Owner-Op. It had it's Pros and Cons.
The Pros to this would be that most OO take better care of their equipment because they have a financial stake in that truck. They will train you how to shift correctly and situational awareness so you aren't tearing up their unit and hitting things. They normally keep the inside of the truck in better condition because they want to keep a higher resale value in the event they trade up to something else. This normally helps with the hygiene issue.
The cons were that sometimes he was very bad at side seat driving in the beginning and I was used as a second log book so the truck could just keep moving making him $$$.
As others have said you don't want to take a shortcut in real world training. You take the month or so that most companies are requiring and suck it up because in the grand scheme of things it's a miniscule amount of time compared to your total driving career or time job hunting because you got violations, tickets, accidents etc and now you can't find someone to hire you.cvnorton Thanks this. -
