Pumpkin Oval Head, I'm working on a brochure about sleep apnea and trucker's help. Would you be willing to let use use your quote, "my sleep apnea was properly diagnosed and properly treated with a cpap machine. I have not slept so well for ten years. Everyone I know with a cpap machine continues to use it to get quality sleep."? If so, would you share your first and last initial?

Sleep study is not federally required. And any Doc that says it is can be sued, Companies on the other hand have been sold this bill of bullshippie and are requiring them because a bunch of lawyers have scared the dog squeeze out of them.
Do not do the phony assed home test. They will just require another one if you pass. Do not sign the paperwork admitting to having it before the test. Yes they hand it to you and hope your not paying attention. Do not take their sleeping pills they will offer you at the test sight. You are not required to sleep in an unnatural position. They will insist you sleep on your back. This improves the odds of you having issues in your sleep.
Stand your ground. Do not be afraid to read up on current law, lawsuits, and the money being funneled into these companies. Stand your ground.
Or find another company, go to your own Doctor and tell them the scam they are running. You have to give full disclosure to avoid the charge of doctor shopping.Aamcotrans and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Sure sure cpap helps some sleep. It also has no scientific backing in regards to driving.Aamcotrans Thanks this. -
Don't ask. And don't mention it.

I still see the medical push to impose masks on truckers who are good old boys that simply got big and strong. So what if they don't have a neck and a chest the size of a barrel. The doctors have no right to be clapping BS sleep apnea masks on these truckers.
I absolutely refuse to accept any sleep apnea converstations with my doctors. My BMI is 18 and at 180 and 6 foot everything is in order on that Sleep Apnea pre-assessment. It simply does not exist as a valid life problem.
If the lungs quit long enough while i sleep and pass on from this crappy life in the night, I'll trade one nightmare for a enternal morning with God and my ancestors. -
However if a driver wants the job, he should do everything to protect himself during any testing process. I have been through this. And cleared on three occasions now.
There is to much money to be made off this phony crap.
Also OP know that there are several other options to their machine. If they diagnose you look into cheaper more permanent alternatives.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

Once a Trucker is diagnosed with the apnea he is stuck using the machine, even if he loses weight and or has surgery to correct the apnea. He still has to use a machine he doesn’t need.
.
If you want to quote anything then quote about the sleep apnea lobbyists and how they are ruining people’s lives then get a June 2017 copy of OOIDA’s Land Line magazine and quote that article.ZVar, x1Heavy, 06driver and 1 other person Thank this.
