I'm currently juggling the idea of getting into the LTL world since my last job ended and my ultimate goal would be line-haul. I love driving at night, and I wouldn't mind at all if I didn't have to deal with customers. It fits my "style" to a T. Unfortunately, the only LTL carrier that has tried to bring me on in the last 2 weeks, seems to a micromanagement hell unfortunately, and the position is for P&D which is fine, if I could eventually work my way into a line-haul run. Just don't know I can deal with the heavy handed micromanagement long enough, to even get in the running for such a position lol.

Every company is different in this regard. We only have one, for example, and lifetime bids. Your bid run is until you decide to switch.

Another way of looking at that is that a bigger barn may likely have more turnover, which would allow faster advancement.

Yeah when r+l told me that I said no thanks... what happens if you get on a bad bid, you stuck for life?

No, just switch when the next one opens. You have to commit to it for a year at a minimum though.

Yep. My barn has close to 200 drivers. I moved up a good 25 spots my first year or so. You move up faster the first few years, then it tapers off.
