Sleep apnea is a scam. Don’t work for any company that pushes that nonsense.

No one has said how much those CPAP machines cost?

Why does no one take the time to state the cost?

It is not just the machines, but the monitoring service that can cost hundreds a month.

And once they have you blacklisted you will play hell getting the stigma removed. Companies are using this to hold drivers hostage once the benevolent company offers to "pay" for your treatment.

Because there are 100 different machines with another 100 different masks...
While there are both more and cheaper alternatives the machine costs about $1,000 and the masks are about $100
Masks need to be changed out yearly and the machine lasts only so long....

    Hundreds a month for monitoring?

    Extreme nausea. Tosses cookies.

    That's stealing.

If you don’t have trouble sleeping, or if you are not tired in the mornin
I was diagnosed in 2007 with sleep apnea, three years before my first dot physical.

My personal physician referred me to a sleep specialist. I had the sleep study done at the hospital I worked at.

My sleep was so bad, I wanted to fall asleep driving to work in the morning. When you have symptoms as severe as I did, the cpap machine restored my sleep and my life back to normal.

    YMMV.

You would need to pm me and provide background info on yourself, for me to consider it.

Absolutely. There are true cases of apnea, and people should use whatever treatment they and their doctor decides.

However if you look at the diagnosis rate of truck drivers compared to average americans we are diagnosed at 300 times the rate. And the overwhelmingly issued fix is a costly monitored machine despite massive advances in both low cost dental appliances, and surgical fixes. Of course those options do not have continuing revenue to the companies pushing this agenda.

I think most people will acknowledge that there are valid cases of sleep apnea, and some people are helped greatly by the CPAP machine. But when a DOT doctor is referring time of people, and almost all of them are found to have obstructive sleep apnea, even those who have been cleared by other drs, there's a problem with that system.

I appreciate your educating me. I am a little bit rough about the subject because sometimes I think the people are being milled for money. I get really bad sometimes.

I am happy that you are doing better. Really. But what a way to get some sleep.

My sleep without medicine comes in one hour to three hour blocks some days and nights. Eventually the bill for sleep is paid so to speak and take off and run a full 20 hour day doing everything I miss.

When it's a bad day for me I take medicine in the dreams while I sleep. Which do not exist. Now some people think that's far out, others say I am weird and so forth in between. I think sometimes when things are difficult with a body not doing well, the mind does a great deal of work to do what it can to help.

My sleep issues was traced to stress. Not only from the injuries etc but from the everyday common problems of making the best of life whatever the day may bring. When that whistle blows in the morning, Let's go we are late already.

Sometimes I live a lie saying that early some days when it's bad.

As a teen I once sleptwalked out of the house we were in, across a very busy roadway and traffic to stand at the bus stop for school. Eventually the rain woke me up and I had to make some large mental adjustments really fast to consider the problem, reality and situation.

At that point prior to the event, parents were whipping me with words so to speak about school this school that school everywhere every day school school and more school. I thought I would ignore it and move on. But nope it built up in the mind and body until it found a way to get rid of the weight so to speak via a proper sleep walk. Never mind what I was wearing. They sing songs about that to this day. Thank GOD no cameras, no you tube, no internet etc. UGh.
