I do it a lot. I'm not wasting time on nonsense. You're not burning any bridges. If they need you they'll call and they'll sound like they actually know wtf they're doing.

 

You called me out and I'm rusty I've been off duty a few weeks. Most times it's someone that's trying to sell something they don't even know what it is. A clockpuncher or clockwatcher that can't wait for 17:00. Probably a newbie that ain't going to last long in the brokering business that was told "cover this load".

They know what the weight is "it's light!" but are flummoxed if you ask questions about things they should be already telling you. Then there are keywords. It's "recycled blah, blah, blah". That's a garbage load that I'll never book. Locally to me here I get a lot of "it picks up in Stevenson, AL". There's only one shipper in that one red light town and I've never booked anything out of there in 7 years.

It's paper roll stock and it always moves cheap amazingly even when freight is hot. "It picks in Stevens" *click*. With the reefer "fresh chicken" is automatically rejected out of hand every time.

So it's a dummy that gets rejected because they're an idiot that I automatically don't trust. Or it's a type of freight known for headaches and problems. I will hang up left and right on these kind of calls every day.

 

I’m surprised by all the building materials hate. I’ve been seeing decent rates and great loading and unloading on mine.

 

Glad you're doing alright on yours. Most of the accounts I've signed up that work in that are hyper-competitive, bottom of the barrel rates. I dunno. I do better elsewhere.

 

Around here bricks always move for dirt cheap in vans regardless of market conditions. Oh on a good day they might pay $500 on 250 miles - not that that's anything good or even decent. Mostly though a load like that pays $350-$400. What a joke. I can't imagine plywood or any kind of lumber going into a van,being any different. I dunno why it is people with vans can't get enough of that #### for nothing. Probably the old "easy on and easy off" routine. Oh yeah easy on and easy off, yeah I'll be glad to donate my truck for absolutely nothing it'll be easy. Total waste of time even discussing those loads.

 

Lumber ain't cheap either. Not at Home Depot or Lowe's. Of course they are the most expensive place to buy it around here. I've never bought any bricks.
