Its a good laugh hearing from guys that never make less than 3 or 4 bucks a mile to the truck fir general flatbed freight. Ive been here about 8 months and have yet to hear a driver complain about their rates but I constantly have people trying to message me on facebook to get over here at tsh and most guys ive talked to have friends trying to get here..... not leave. Ive been in trucking over twenty years. TSH has good rates and yes like EVERY COMPANY they have some cheap rates depending on the lane. I do well here and am fairly new so that speaks volumes for me

Work for a company that owns trucks not a trucking company if you are a company driver.

This year have been very interesting because van rates pays better than flatbed and stepdeck. I parked my stepdeck and bought a dryvan trailer because it was hard to get consistant $2/mile all miles since flatbed rates have dropped since last november. Been using Internettruckstop for loads. Northeast, southeast, midwest van rates are very high. Just got a load from Greensboro, NC to Syracuse van load for $2800. No way you can do that right now with flatbed/stepdeck legal loads.

I have not seen more van freight postings than flatbed posting in the last 12 years that I have been using the loadboards. Today, van freight have more postings in most major markets. I think this is due to ELog.

Economy is way too big for all of us to take all the business. I'm just showing the trend. Its a trend right now that dryvan rates is sky high. But comes spring and summer, flatbed, reefer may or may not be better. Instead of buying a brand new stepdeck trailer for $45k, I bought a used 53' stepdeck for 18k, and have leftover money to buy the dryvan. Now i can take advantage of both dryvan and stepdeck. If reefer rates jumps like last november in the $4-$8 per mile, I already have rental companies lined up to lease a reefer for the busy months.
To make it in this business, you need to have more than one options and must be able to adapt since trucking is very fast pace.Lepton1, Skwhirl, NoBigHurry and 1 other person Thank this. -
We have a multitude of trailers and trucks as well. Step, flat, dry van and reefer. Still, even as an employee my boss doesnt tell me his secrets to some of the high paying loads he gets.

Here is the kicker, guys leased on getting paid by the mile like $1/mile are the ones really getting ripped off right now. Van rates have doubled, yet these leases still pay the same. I am just informing the public that van rates have skyrocketed. Are the lease operating seeing the increase ?
