I am willing to bet there is more to this story than Elyssa the Truck Driver's wife is telling. Or maybe it is the Truck Driver himself not tell Elyssa the full story.
Did the Truck Driver call his FM immediatly, when he knew he couldn't make delivery on time? I always kept my FM informed. As soon as I susspected I would be late. That might have been as soon as I was assigned the load. Then I would let him know as soon as I knew I was going to be late. Then you make a follow up call to safety, letting them know the circumstances of why you would be late.
TMC doesn't fire you if you have good communication for circumstances beyond your control.
Good try Elyssa, only there are real TMC drivers here to set the story straight.

I too think there is more to this than what seems to be. Sometimes what seems to be the problem;;; really isn't the problem. -
I notice that some of the bad things said about TMC are from people who just joined and its their first and sometimes only post. I know I am a noob here myself but if your trucker I think most would frequent this site often as there are great people here and a wealth of information.
Just saying I trust information from someone that has a little more than 1 post. I seen it other forums, kinda like a flamer or a troll. They post once with generic information then disappear.
Sure no company is perfect and the bigger they are the more complaints. That goes for any company. -
I like to call them Drive-by-Posters.

See what that long black hood does? Sun bounces off of it onto your head and bakes it. Then you got the marine's mixed up with tmc....

Well I must say that I was late quite often and I was never fired. I do have a theory about this "mysterious firing" though if we are to believe some of that post. TMC does not put up with any driver that upsets a customer. For example if the driver was late yet the customer was not informed then the customer may say "Sorry, we can't take you until tomorrow now" Well if the driver gets mad and threatens the customer then the customer may call up TMC and say "I won't have that driver come here again, he was rude and I am scared of him" and that is grounds for termination. You are warned of this during orientation. Keep your cool and let your Fleet Manager and/or Detention department handle a difficult customer. Don't argue with customers EVER, although begging and/or passing bribes may do the truck.
I had a customer where I made a wrong turn and got stuck in traffic and arrived 15 minutes after the receiving deadline. They said I would have to wait until the next morning UNLESS the forklift operator had enough time to take care of me. I passed the forklift operator $20 and he unloaded me after he clocked out. I was planned on a load that would put $200 in my pocket in the time that I would have been sitting there.
Note to all you TMC newbies: When you are held up at a shipper you simply let your Fleet Manager know via satellite message that: "Delayed loading at shipper. Best ETA is now 12/19 0800" and your FM will take care of it. The same holds true for bad weather, traffic, etc. Keep your FM informed and it won't be your fault.MACK E-6, Drive-a-Mack, ScooterDawg and 2 others Thank this. -
LOL insurance companies say if you report that the animal Hit you it is not your fault. If you say I hit the animal then it is. How about that load of garbage.. Differant wording saves you a deductable.. LOL

I gotta call BS on that story as well. I've been late more than once for various reasons, some of them (Yes) might have even been my fault. But i was never fired for it.
It's actually pretty difficult to get fired from TMC, i am willing to bet that there is alot more to this story than is being posted. I've even gotten into arguments with customers before and never been fired for it... So, hard to say.
If you're a good driver that does what you're supposed to they will deal with a little bit of crap from you. So, eh, i don't really get it. -
..yes Eko, we don't have all the facts on this one, have hubby give us his version so we can make an honest asessment of what could have happened to get him fired without any explanation from TMC, otherwise the outcome of your version doesn't make any sense.. sorry we can't help you without any more facts on his firing but if what you told us is true, it's definitley gonna screw up his DAC!
ekovatch Thanks this.
