One big red flag would have been the cash or comcheck. What reputable towing company that is charging a ridiculously high fee doesn't take credit cards.

They aren’t listed on Google maps, probably not legit. I’ll bet the IRS would like to know about their cash business.

This is when a 12ga comes in handy. Try to boot my house you piece of trash!

For some reason this has been bothering me all day. We bring alot on ourselves but extortion isn't one of them. I don't wish harm on anyone, but I at least hope his wife was sleeping with another man while he is out on his scam. Sleazeball will boot the wrong truck sooner or later.

The reason I started this thread was to give others a heads up but I have benefited from the feedback as well. I hope to avoid a situation like that if possible but maybe next time it won't be so shocking and confusing.Last edited: Feb 27, 2018

First thing, make sure you aren't in the wrong. If you are, pay up. Second, make #### sure the repo company is legit by any means necessary before paying. I never would have paid cash either. A reputable company will accept a card. It also gives you a paper trail if need be and a receipt for the IRS. It is an expense deduction after all.
I used to do repossessions and impounds on the MD/DC area. The laws are very clear. Towing companies that don't follow them are quickly put out of business.Last edited: Feb 27, 2018

No they will not accept a card. Because 3 minutes after they leave they will dispute the charge.
Look does it suck?Sure Albany is one of many North Georgia cities with laws against parking on lots like that. Specifically about that. He'll the owner can be fined. Wal-Mart has been fined for not stopping truck parking on their own #### lot by their own trucks.
Albany code
Sec. 38-125. - Remaining on business property after closing.
It shall be unlawful for any person to remain upon the premises or parking areas of any business while such business is closed, without the consent of the owner of the business; provided, however, that in parking areas which are common to more than one business, such conduct shall be unlawful only while all of the businesses are closed.
(Code 1975, § 16-46; Code 1985, § 17-55)
State Law reference— Criminal trespass, O.C.G.A. § 16-7-21.
So consider this an expensive lesson. You parked on ground you did not own. You did not verify that it was permitted. You pay the penalty.
The maximum amounts are set by code. Call the Albany Police I would bet you find $600 is the max. I know it is $1100 in Stockbridge and $900 in Newnan.
Why? Because $100 was not stopping them. Someone just posted an article up in New York $300 was considered a parking fee by folks illegally parking.
So in summation if you park on ground you do not own you better make #### sure you're allowed. It is on you to make sure. Not some sign, or a clerk saying well others do, previous truck tracks........
You park on my ground it will cost you a years salary to get free because I do not want trucks parked on my ground.Studebaker Hawk Thanks this.
