It is a variable speed limit up to 120 km/h. It is showing 80-90 km/h right now.

Of course the idiots will still be doing 120.

    BigHossVolvo and gokiddogo Thank this.

Is that the scene at the beginning of this teaser, which also includes supreme truck driver idiocy on Othello Road near where the crash in this thread happened?

There seems to be more and more stupid on the roads in BC these days. I love visting BC. You should see the rat race to get ahead of me every time I visit there. Little do they know I had blue license plates way back when. I know how to drive around a curve without slowing to a crawl lol.

This could be the crash that finally makes something happen to change the game on the Coq. A maximun 80 km truck speed downhill from the snowshed to Hope, all seasons, 24 hrs a day, 365 days per year. With enforcement by CVSE and RCMP, no excuses tolerated, ever.
A horrible crash in Kamloops in 1989 with multiple fatalities that resulted in a permanent 80 km truck speed limit on the Kamloops hill on highway1 downhill is a reminder laws can make a difference before another disaster..

That would mean having to address the fundamental problem that is causing all these crashes: An endless supply of clueless, unqualified recent immigrants and Temporary Foreign Workers hired by trucking companies for the sole purpose of driving wages down in the Canadian trucking industry.

That reckless imbecile who sideswiped the bus in the video should be charged with dangerous driving at the very least. One foot closer and there would have been fifty dead people.

That particular solution will be difficult but is clearly part of the problem. In the interim, re-classifying transport driving as a skilled trade in Canada under federal immigration regulations is a good start. And making sure all drivers and companies are covered under a collective bargaining agreement and represented by a real union (not CLAC-type rat union) is another big goal. This last is one that individual drivers can actually get started, all it takes is one phone call to a local to get the ball rolling...Nobody is going to bail drivers out if they won't try to help themselves first..

I heard stories about that. Truck had brake fade and crashed into a building or something at the bottom?

The fact that CLAC even exists is a testament to how dire the situation is.

I don't think there is much possibility that the illiterate recent immigrants and Temporary Foreign Workers who dominate trucking in Canada are ever going to figure out the fundamentals of democratic institutions that protect workers rights.
