I understand sometimes that companies don’t always have standard trucks available for 200+ training with mentor. But, would I be able to switch to a manual after I complete the training and get my own truck?
Or should I try and make them give me a standard to train in. I’m just worried that an automatic will me make lazy and not want a manual anymore. Lol

Push for a manual to train on. The skill is very beneficial.
Toomanybikes, Bob Dobalina and Smut Thank this. -
Whatever you learned in school about shifting is useless if you don't put it into practice right away and for a decent amount of time. After that point, it will be "like riding a bike" to go from auto to manual. But not until you have had it ingrained.
You currently know how to ride a bike with training wheels. If you take them off after not having practiced for a while, you'll fall flat on your face. You don't wanna be doing that in the mountains. Or in city traffic. Or anywhere else actually.Toomanybikes, diesel drinker and highway666 Thank this. -

I see from earlier posts you already have your CDL.
If you tested out in a manual & are not auto restricted...... I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Be a bit of a readjustment coming back to it for a few days, maybe a week or two......but, nothing a day or two just running around your terminal area shouldn't solve, to at least get you rolling again.
Now........ whether you may just get spoiled by the auto is a whole nother story! LOL
Can't tell you how many old timer's I've run into that were dead set against them. ..... that are now official converts that will never go back.
Edit: Just saw your previous post that you will now be training in a manual. Means you were not restricted. Good deal....
Best to get your experience that way. At least you will gain your initial experience the "right way".
Good luck to you on your new adventure.
Wish you the best possible experience.

There's no training in an auto. You put it in drive and go. Get as much experience in a manual as you can.

Know Ed O'Neil from 'Ol Buckeye days growing up. (Cleveland & Youngstown, before he made it). One hell of a guy.......
Very appropriate to bring a former truck driver into the mix! Very appropriate........!
Maybe we can get Ed to show him a thing or two, eh......?
LOL
