The entire I-30 through little rock to at least Caddo Valley IS a problem to anyone not just trucks.
If you know anything about the ongoing construction on 440 and the Big rock replacement on 430 30 is the only alternative left it's excludes hazmat vehicles especially.
I generally stay in the middle myself provided the third left lane is open to trucks. Especially along that 30.
You can visit idrive arkansas and select live cameras and see for yourself in real time why those roads are so bad.
Part of the problem worsens when you get into interstates only two lanes wide each direction. Three would be way better. We are slowly upgrading US67 to three or more from two and converting it to a future interstate which will probably end up being three lanes each way in several decades plus subway service in the median. (Which will bring crime out of little rock big time...)
After a certain time it really does not matter how many lanes you have. You can have like 24 each way and it will all sit still at some point twice a day due to rush.
Be a rock in the stream?

You can have 5, 30, 50 or 100. The problem is the number of cars.
5 lane one direction highways do exist, we stay in the middle. Clear of the speeders to the left because we are governed and clear of the wild merging and getting out behavior to the right.
When you get out west far enough away from the i-95 population centers you will find that there is hardly any traffic, thus hardly any problems with same. That is changing as more people move in.Woodchuck88 Thanks this. -

cats....
I would rather be in middle with much on and off traffic. Even if I'm slower than the flow. It's much safer.Naptown Thanks this. -
The one exception is the 50 mph no fly zone on 70 in Indianapolis. I gladly fight the right lane traffic there for the chance to see some big rigger throttle jockey get his just reward. There's always at least one truck pulled over through there, and sometimes there's a trooper waiting on every ramp like they're having a big turkey shoot.Lepton1 and WesternPlains Thank this.
