I am looking into training at CDI in Oxford AL and I know their biggest sponsor is Werner. I want to get into driving but not with a bad start and am in need of advice. I would rather make less money and work for a good company that will actually get me trained and not throw me to the wolves and get someone hurt. I don't want to start in a business and be known as "oh that guy". My profession has come to a stop I have lost my home and have been divorced for years so I mainly just want to get out of the same old no pay rut, I can't pay rent and child support on $9.00 an hour. Any help I can get is appreciated.
What to do and where to go?

You sound like me 22 years ago. I used to be a surgical nurse, and God I wish I still was. Now I own a one truck trucking company, used to have 5 trucks and drivers with my own authority. I know where you are. Nasty divorce, long story, sheriff visiting the hospital on stupid ex allegations, etc........ Very long story, the woman and her attorney buried me in the most obscene way, still seeing red 22 years later. And yes, I had a daughter, which made it that much easier to ruin me real fast. But anyways...
Right now, trucking ain't happening. But, you will have a roof over your head and at least one meal a day. The reason I got into it.
Advice????? I wish I had some. Most companies are in a hiring freeze. The big guys are closing their schools. If you can get in with Werner do it. But there is not much work out here right now. At least you have plenty of time to ask allot of questions of a trainer.
I wish I had better news.

Good advice. If I were starting out at this time I would take any job that I could get. Hell that's how I got started years ago.
