Unless they are moving over to avoid being in the lane beside the stopped emergency vehicle or tow truck. Or are passing someone driving far too slow on the highway. Or are taking the left exit at the fork.
I can’t pass you, so you’ll make room

I had a Werner driver trying to pass me northbound on I29 in South Dakota into North Dakota on Thursday. I'm governed at 64, he was governed at either 63 or 64 and was getting a draft when behind me, then would pull out to pass, and realize only after about 5 minutes of not getting anywhere that he wasn't getting past.
He tried this every time he caught up to within a truck length of my back door over 50+ miles, he got close a couple times (must have been a tail wind at some point) but ended up having to back out because he didn't have the juice to get past me. He looked over at one point and motioned me to slow down. I'm like, why? You can't pass me, so if I let you past, now I'm going to draft you and your box and just pass you back, playing leapfrog the whole way.
After still being unable to get past on that big downhill, he finally (thankfully) gave up and pulled off for a break while I carried on to Fargo.
Do trucks still have that "push to pass" feature? I really wish I could get 65 mph on cruise and 70 mph for passing on the pedal. Would be so much safer.Lepton1, rank and scottied67 Thank this. -
This was a few years back, with my trash truck. On I90. Tried not passing an 18 wheeler. He just slowed down too much in right lane, on a hill. I passed. As soon as I got by him. He changed lanes and drafted me. In a class B truck, the steer wheels don't have enough weight on them. Lose traction, and that's what happened. So I hit the brakes. He moved back to the right lane. Passed me in that right lane. Making a face at me like he won. I didn't care. He's an idiot.
Last night I did have a truck following me. He'd run up on me. Sit there a little while. Then slowly drop back a couple miles. Then run up again. I was in my car. I went into a nice little store/truck stop in Chadron. He followed me in. He drove around the place and parked out front. He didn't come in the store or anything. I came back out. He pulled from that parking spot. I just waited and watched him. Let him know I was aware of him. Also lets say just about everybody is armed here. I wasn't worried. I wasn't going to go in front of him again. He couldn't stop in the driveway. So he kept going. I said goodbye. I don't know what he was up to. What he was thinking. Or coincidence of some kind? I don't care. I wasn't going to keep fooling with him.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
He saw a RR crossing coming up and pulled to the shoulder to let me by before we got there.
A bit later, and as we were getting to the aforementioned truck, he passed me.
That driver pulled the same thing with him as well. Tried to speed up as the tanker was passing to block him.
That looked to be an O/O, not a Swift or 'insert name here' truck.
I guess that some drivers are just jerks. -
There is a feature called PassSmart that allows us to push it to 67 for up to 30 minutes per day - also on cruise.
It helps. -

Pay attention to this at nine minutes in. 22 gauge sheet metal and a 380. A gun so small, you forget you have it.
If a 380 will do that. What do you think their 357 will do to an engine compartment? They've got an example of a 10mm at 100 yards and level IIA armor. Impressive...Last edited: Mar 3, 2018
